When I buy a steak I want total provenance. I want the cows name, the cows age, its grazing disposition, personality and a photograph of its face on the front of the packet.

Can you do that, or should I look elsewhere for my meat?

How to cook steak: cook it till your desired taste, then take out. What a silly video. I knew this was bad when he said it seals the juices in.

that looks nice but hey mate! u got anymore chips? lol there isnt many videos of people cooking rump steak. i just bought my first 1 lol and i know people put salt and pepper on it to season it but i have the normal salt and white pepper. is this ok? i aint into salt rocks or peppercorns, the flavour peppercorns give isnt as good as white pepper/ powdered. also after i put butter in the pan u say have it on highest heat right and let pan get to temperature then put steak in right? u dont put pan on medium?

Cook in lard not butter, butter smoke point is way to low, that is why that has a horribly bad sear. You can baste with butter after searing. Need a heavy bottomed pan to maintain high heat.

The meat looks good but put that thick fat end in first to render it (with a little oil)

Make sure your steak is well seasoned, oil first in a hot pan! depending on the thickness cook the steak for 30 seconds to one minute then flip, add butter now to the pan.
(The butter will burn if you add it first to a pan that is hot enough for a steak)

Add some garlic and hurbs like fresh thyme or rosemary to the butter, after 30 secs/1 min flip the steak.

For rare, again depending on thickness you don't want to cook it for any longer than 3 or 4 minutes,

Then let that steak rest! For five minutes!
(As Michael fassbender would say) Perfection.

Looks great but those oven chips bring shame to that lovely bit of meat

Happily do that with a scotch or a porterhouse but rump isn’t the best cut. If your going to show people how to get the best out of a particular cut... show them the best way to do it for that cut.
