I think the gastrointestinal upset may be due to the antimicrobial effects of coconut oil. Which may not be such a bad thing, although of course uncomfortable to experience. Most individuals can probably avoid the discomfort by taking smaller amounts per meal at first to modulate the die-off symptoms. Two additional points I'd like to mention here. There's a lot of new research coming out indicating that saturated fats aren't the devil after all, and certainly polyunsaturated fats are not heart healthy. In fact, they are highly pro-inflammatory due to lipid peroxidation and other factors. I think a combination of saturated fats and monounsaturated fats are far more protective overall. I would imagine that different individuals have different needs in terms of how much overall fat intake they can tolerate. I definitely agree that carbohydrates and glucose have been unfairly demonized recently by low-carb advocates. And also I agree that the positive hormonal effects of consuming fats are also not being properly recognized by the low-fat advocates. We neither need to go extreme low fat, nor extreme low-carb. In my view, both extremes are fads.

Wrong, vegetable oils, canola oils, sunflower oils, cause inflammation, the best use for these oils is to run your car engine or or to stop your squeaky hinges on your gate.

the fact that you called coconuts a vegetable discredits you instantly. LOL your body prefers fats over carbs.
