Apparently the first way you get dopamine at the start of your day is how you crave it for the rest of the day. So staying off your phone first thing really is key to having a better day! Better to start the day with a walk or bike ride or simply being present with one’s family/partner during breakfast

Always great food for thought! I've cut out diet coke (used to be addicted to it) and I just drink water/sparkling water now and 1 coffee in the morning. Like you, I've cut down on eating processed food and junk food (can't say I've cut them out 100% but close enough). Habits that are helping me are having a list of dailies: Read, exercise 60 minutes, walk outside 2-3X, play the piano, clean something, do a task, connect with someone (not necessarily in that order). I'm newly retired so my schedule is my own and I love it. The dailies keep me from watching too much Youtube which seems to be my new addiction. I love learning (former teacher) so Youtube and podcasts have become a bit too prevalent in my life...goal is to downsize them! Thanks for your videos!

We eat mostly plants. We walk up and down hills 3 miles every day. We hope to golf 72 times this year. I am thinking about quitting alcohol and caffeine. Both are drugs. And we help our three kids in their yards to keep our muscles strong. Earth gym.

This is not so much an unhealthy habit that I don't do, but a healthy habit that I do. When I recognise that I'm avoiding something because I'm scared of it, I now confront that fear and deal with it, growing my comfort zone and reducing the amount of things that cause me fear. I'm now a much happier and more confident person in my late 40s than when I was say in my 20s when I recognised that this was potentially a good thing to do, however painful :D

Your minimalism videos are just what I’ve needed! I’ve declutter in fits and starts but never made it a habit!! I’ve sprinted but never really thought of it as a marathon! Both of these are from 11 Common Decluttering Mistakes!! Keep on posting videos! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Stopping negative self-talk is critical. One of the most powerful lessons in my life was when a friend said about what I was saying about myself "Please stop talking about my friend like that." This motivated me to silence the negative internal dialogue and completely changed my life for the better.

I need to stop using my phone as I wake up.
I cut the negative comments to myself. And replace it with "I'm enough but if you want, you can improve... By..."

This really helps me, instead of being so hard on me, I get the option to be or to improve.
Great vid!

I SUBSCRIBED. YOU'RE GOOD LOOKING BUT IT'S YOUR PERSONALITY THAT STANDS OUT.

Sounds silly but it worked for me and friends.... I stopped calling it "going to the gym" or "work out" but instead named it "producing happy hormons" 🥳 The more effort I put into a happy hormons production session the better I feel afterwards.

The YouTube part is so true and a hard thing to overcome. I’ve been grinding for years, but definitely seeing progress now.

This list was perfect for me to apply more of what I need to do. That NF quote popped me too, love it.

The part about comparing your others now to your now. It makes perfect sense and is something that's so blatant but also something we're blind to. I'm trying to do so much and be further along with my ideas and the reason I'm not as far along as others is because I've not put the time and effort in like they have. Keep up the fantastic work dude.

Love this list, I've had similar thoughts about many of these things so this video really validates that I'm on the right track. Especially extending more grace to myself for not being perfect at a new skill right away. Thanks Gabe!

Gabe, a great list of habits! One of my favorite habits is Wordle and Sudoku. It fires up my brain. I have been working hard at only watching my youtube subscriptions. Treating that list like my closet, one in one out. You will definitely stay on that list!

I stopped using my phone as an alarm in the morning. I have an analog battery-operated alarm clock without a snooze button, so I have to get up at when the alarm goes off. I love not having my phone in the bedroom, which also it helps me not check it until much later in my day. Thanks for your videos - they have so much practical information!

Had to cut my gym membership (#reasons) so I primarily walk for exercise and do yoga/weights intermittently. Walking after work has been nothing short of a mental health lifesaver. Great list and thanks for the free books via library app suggestion.
