I used to harm my kidneys by using and drinking. I’m proud to say I’m 42 months sober now.

My wife has Chronic Kidney disease. She completely changed her lifestyle. She uses all 10 of the topics. One thing she eats a very low sodium diet 500-1000 MG a day. She thinks the numbers they give in this video are too high. In one year, she has brought her kidney function back to the low end of normal kidney function. Everything in this video is important and must be used together to get the best results.

To everyone reading this, I sincerely pray for that whatever is causing you pain or stress will pass. May your negative thoughts, excessive worries and doubts disappear, replaced by clarity and understanding. May your life be filled with peace, tranquility and love

As someone with CKD and a former dialysis nurse, I find some of this "information" wrong. You should not drink 1.5-2liters of water daily; the reason being is that your kidneys are already working overtime to filter out toxins and excess water with kidney patients is usually retained causing swelling. Secondly there IS such a thing called water intoxication in which consuming a gallon of water a day or even less, flushes out too much sodium which leads to seizures. There is water in juice, and a lot of fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, cucumbers, celery, tomatoes, apples which should be counted in your water intake. Also it's inaccurate to say that sleeping too much is bad for your kidneys. Everyone has different sleep needs, whether it's 7 hours or 9 hours. Sleep is essential to healing and kidney patients are usually more fatigued than the rest of the population so get the rest you need and don't go by a video.

I have at least 3 of these habits not drinking enough, not urinating on time and eating late late and high sugar intake.
Extremely grateful for this video.

I had kidney cancer in 2012, left kidney removed and follow all of the 10 talked about in this video. I had to do my own research as I didn't get info except eat fruit/veggies/drink water from my dr....one thing you need to find out based on your numbers, using a hard copy of your most recent blood work is how much potassium, sodium, phosphorus, and protein for your individual kidney function level. from a renal dietitian. You also need to stay away from beef. I have anemia, so I do eat grass fed beef a couple of times a month and stay within my protein level which is 40grams a day. To save money and the planet, I bought a brita jug/water filter for my water intake. No Coke! or dark colored sodas. I've had some close calls, hospital stays, gfr went down to 8% function, it's now back up to 24% mainly with diet and healthy lifestyle. Personally, I'd advise Everyone over 30 to have a kidney function test added to their yearly physical as there are No Symptoms of kidney disease....be your own advocate as most kidney dr's or regular dr's don't really care much about function until you get to stage 4. Best Of Luck 💜💜💜

Tomorrow is my kidney transplant(Jan22, 2024)😊 tbh i already know everything she mentioned. I had ckd5 due to autoimmune disease. So its kinda unfortunate that even im so health conscious i still got this. Now i will have 2nd chance, i'll pray that my new kidney will last very long. My doctor said that as i take anti rejection meds, it will also suppress my autoimmune disease. i really hope so🙏 i will keep praying it wont destroy my kidney again as how i pray to get an opportunity to have kidney transplant even im poor. All thanks to our God and my family and also to my guardian angel that keeps helping me financially and to my friends🙏💚

If you get a yearly blood test as post of a physical, look for the eGFR (filtration rate) number. My primary doctor let me go for 6 years with an eGFR of less than 60, which shows kidney damage. I had no idea what that number meant until this year when I looked it up. But by then I was at stage 3b, fighting to not get any worse. You have to be your own health advocate.

I’m guilty of all 10 over the course of my life. I believe I’ve corrected all of them now since learning that I have stage three liver disease. I’m 69. What’s done is done, but I don’t want to have dialysis. I do most of my own cooking. I eat very little meat— mostly chicken. My blood pressure is controlled by medication since I’m overweight. I really wish I’d known these things when I was young. I smoked for 25 years and drank way too much. I’ve given up both.

Thanks for this informative video❤ I'm a sonographer and I often see kidney stones while doing abdominal ultrasounds. I always tell my patients this advice.

As a RN, I find it interesting that many of the things we are forced to do (like going for hours without peeing because you don't have time to even go to the bathroom, night shift, time to eat, etc) in order to take care of everybody else's health is contradictory to the RN's health.

Very useful instructions for Ckd s and normals too. Better to prevent than medications and surgeries. Wise to listen and follow... oh mankind

I wish some doctor would do a video on what you can take for a kidney infection after you have survived C-diff.
