I've never tried using it for day-to-day workouts, but it definitely works great when you're injured. I herniated 2 discs in a construction accident years ago, and used slow rep rack pulls, romanians, and deadlifts to heal it. I went from slowly crawling on the floor, in crippling pain to almost completely pain free in less than 2 months.

You gotta slow down when your going fast! Move slow and gain speed and strength!

This makes perfect sense, the eccentric portion of the lift has been proven through studies to cause the most stress and the most microtears on the muscle, which would lead to greater strength gains. Thats why when people slam the weight down they are missing half, if not more than half, of the lift. combine that with increased time under tension on the way up, and you have an even greater stimulus on the muscles, causing you to adapt faster

I dedicate every deadlift shart to you, Mark. You have been such an inspiration to me, so I feel that it is the least I could do.

Great content!

As a 2-month newbie at 47 years of age, I have learned alot from you and your guests, which has certainly helped me get stronger and injury free.

As an aside, the deadlift is so addictive because it seems to squeeze the testosterone out of your balls, thus turning you into a friggin beast.

Keep up the great work!

Never liked lifting fast. I naturally lift slow, just feels better to me. Glad it's a good thing

Slowing down especially on the concentric actually really makes sense cause I think a lot of people struggle with deadlift because when they try to pull too fast they get out of position. Like locking the knees too early to the bar off the ground faster, but then making lockout almost impossible with heavy weight. Then they do rack pulls cause their "lockout is weak" but they are actually just in bad position. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast!

I am curious, is it actually Mark Bell that is responding in the comment section? We all know he doesn't know how to operate a computes so I am wondering. Great video as always, thanks for the content.
