100 % agree. I don’t feel like your jump going down is always bad, when pro dunkers go through strength phases where heavy lifting is the main priority vertical usually goes down, but you gotta push yourself to receive any super compensation. It can become mentally challenging to see your vert go down, but if you can stick through you can develop some grit. All this in combination of running, jumping and cutting of course and don’t neglect strength when you go through periods of speed work

Just stumbled across one of your videos and went straight rabbit hole! What a beast. Thanks for the great information. I learned a lot already.

You can also do an explosive set right after a heavy set so say 6 reps heavy squat immediately followed by 6reps hang cleans /box jumps or frog jump

Can you make a video on rest time between sprinting drills.

My first mistake when I started POWERLIFTING. Focusing on one lift too IMPROVE. My other two drastically declined.

you can be strong without lifting
but you can't be fast without sprinting

great vid! I fell victim to this when I became a gym rat and neglected speed work. Reminding myself that being fast is a priority and doing speed work made all the difference. Another note - recently finished the hoss program! Recommend doing it again or changing the exercises? Thanks!!

Yeah I’ve been trying pin front squat and split squats on Monday and on Tuesday clean pulls/power cleans / sprints/bounds and then break on Wednesday I notice my vert went down and my cleans are at a plateau or either I’m fatigued or I need to do some heavy RDLs on Monday. I will say this video is very helpful because I’ve only doing one main lift such as a the squat and need to put more accessories lifts on that day.

Your jump mechanics are phenomenal. What's your athletic background?

Lifting heavy doesn't make you slow. Lifting like a powerlifter makes you slow.

Do you ever work hip flexors directly, with stuff like weighted or cable knee raises ?
It looks like hip flexor strength/volume is heavily correlated with sprint performance, so that would be one of the first exercise to come in a "lifting makes you slow" discussion.

Do you think this applies to aerobic work too? Specifically zone 2 running.

Does this apply to martial arts as well?
