People wear busyness like it’s a badge of honor, but what most people don’t realize is that the busyness they are experiencing is a self-created avoidance tactic. Learn how to overcome “being busy” to avoid past hurts and how instead to show up fully for yourself - and your love life. Crista Beck, The Love Radar, is a dating expert who teaches single people who are seeking a healthy and long-term relationship how to attract quality dating partners, increase their confidence, and take the actions necessary to have the love they deeply desire. Through her one-on-one and group coaching programs they can stop struggling with the overwhelm of dating and finally feel at home in the relationship they always wanted.

This is true about love, when it hurts it's hard to heal and feel until you are forced in some way, shape or form to deal with it.

Being busy isn't life, and you are right about how we hold ourselves back from love and joy as if there is something to lose.

Personally I hate people tell me they are very busy - everyone is ‘busy’ with something, and to me it’s just an excuse for not investing in relationships.

Great talk, Christa!!! The "I'm too busy for love" excuse is exposed in this TEDx talk. There is always time for the important things... and what's more important than love?!?!?!

the process you mention towards the end of your talk - just allowing yourself to sit with your pain, feelings - whatever they might be. i love this practice and do it all the time. it's amazing the honest answers we get from ourselves when we take the time to just be.

I can only imagine some of the stories this lady would have from the people she coaches. From my experience, most people who are 'too busy' are trying to cover something up. A lot of self reflection would come into play before her clients would be actually ready for love. A bunch of healing I imagine.

i was sent this by a lovely woman who i've recently started speaking to. i am known to keep myself very busy. and yes, it is because there are things i would rather not think about. i've always been taught to carry on. perhaps i could try some of these practices...

I have noticed in countries like America, Canada and Australia - they have been pushing the single person narrative for a while - how much more fulfilling life can supposedly be as a single person, when in reality - we are a pack species who crave people to share love with. This talk is such a reminder that we do need to slow down and share with one another. It helps our balance in so many ways.

I'm a hyper independent individual who's busy with schooling and my two jobs, in addition to tending to my personal responsibilities such as managing my finances properly and caring for my health. I've been supporting myself for so long, I can not imagine anyone providing me with any support, given how much pressure I endure on a daily basis. I feel that the added pressure of having to satisfy a partner and meet their criteria in order to receive some type of "love" will only serve to break me. I've been heartbroken, disappointed, and left behind. I do not want to experience that again. American modern dating culture is like an anathema to me, and so I choose to avoid it. It still pains me though as I realize that even with all my accomplishments, I return home alone every night

There is a belief around feelings as something to not feel it or deal with it. Vulnerability is for children.
