I just moved to Mexico! Yay! Ten years in the planning and my life finally was such that I could sell my house and get down here. I am renting an Airbnb at Lake Chapala for a month, driving around, getting familiar with the area and deciding if this is my place to settle or which little community feels best. There were many reasons I decided on moving here. Proximity to friends and family in the States is one. I can easily get back up there to visit and so many friends have said they want to come down and visit me here. The climate was huge. I was so tired of the blistering heat in the summer and the wildfires on the West Coast, I just couldn't see going through another summer. And this past winter was super cold for an extended period, too. What I love here is all the wonderful plants and birds. I'm discovering groups that do kayaking, bird watching trips, gardening, and animal rescue (my passion). Every day I walk with my dog and just marvel at the wonderful weather, gorgeous flowering plants that grow adundantly, the friendly people, and a more laid-back lifestyle. I haven't heard one car honking since I crossed the border! I drove down alone with my dog and 2 cats....I'm 68 and alone. I had no problems at all. It took 10 days from the day I left home. It has actually been one of the hardest things I ever did, but now I'm here and it is up to me to make friends and get involved in the community. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I am finding that groceries cost 1/3 to 1/2 what they do in the U.S.

Thank you for your videos, I have been following you and appreciate your good advice & information shared. Number 1 reason I want to move to Mexico would be to stretch my money further....right now (as you know) in the U.S. we are experiencing high inflation and my 401K keeps getting smaller and smaller. I am not a wealthy person and whatever I can do to stretch the little money I have (as a single woman) I would be so grateful for. Number 2 reason: the Mexican people I have met have been so incredibly warm and helpful. Number 3 reason: I feel safe in Mexico. Number 4 reason: I am up for having an adventurous life! As a 60 year old - I am not ready to settle into a do nothing lifestyle, I am ready to explore and learn and have fun! So these are the reasons I really, really, really want to move to Mexico. Oh and Mexico is super beautiful too, so there's that :-)

I'm convinced. 😁 I'll retire in a year and a half and had been considering Yucatan. Now I'm confused because Jalisco looks great too. 🤔

I would love to retire with my RV to Mexico. I feel I would enjoy life more than the everyday news in the US. The cost of living is an important reason and a temperate climate. Great video that touches on a lot of what Mexico offers.

There are so many reasons to love Mexico! There is so much joy in daily life. I also have observed more respect shown towards older folks in Mexico than there is in the USA. People have always been extremely helpful to me as a solo woman traveler and kind as I stumble with my rudimentary Spanish. We haven’t relocated yet but it is the plan!

I am considering moving to Mexico to have a change of pace from being in the Caribbean for the past 3 years. Also, I want to have that rich, high-elevation, city-life experience that Puebla and Mexico City have to offer.

I think you forgot to mention one of the most important reasons to move to Mexico: Mexican people. They are warm, welcoming, friendly, humble, and respectful.

All of those reasons are good. Another is that they don't have an IRS for taxes. In Mexico you pay your national taxes with a Value added tax called IVA. It is a far better system than the USA. Also local taxes are very low compared to other countries.
You will enjoy your stay in Mexico if you can speak some Spanish.

Marianna is such a charming and eloquent ambassador for Mexico? What does Marianna know about "Derecho de Piso" and how much of a problem it is throughout Mexico? A recent episode from the YouTube channel "Two Expats Mexico" discussed it and how it discouraged him from starting a business in Mexico.

No one talks about inflation - if you are on a fixed income and you are planning to live the rest of your life there you better multiply the estimates by 2.5 times on average !
