CLIP DESCRIPTION:

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Shot back-to-back with The Matrix Reloaded, the third and final installment of Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski's sci-fi action saga picks up where the second film left off. Neo (Keanu Reeves) remains unconscious in the real world, caught in a mysterious subway station that lies between the machine world and the Matrix, and Bane (Ian Bliss) is still a conduit for Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving), who continues to grow out of control, threatening to destroy both worlds. Meanwhile, as the sentinels get closer and closer to Zion, the citizens of the earth's last inhabited city prepare for the inevitable onslaught. By bargaining with The Merovingian (Lambert Wilson), Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) are able to free Neo who, after meeting with The Oracle (Mary Alice stepping in for the late Gloria Foster), decides that he must leave Zion and head for the machine mainframe. As Neo and Trinity venture into the dangerous machine world, with hopes of stopping both the machines and Agent Smith, their comrades in Zion attempt to fight off the attacking sentinels with the odds stacked greatly against them. Other cast members returning include Monica Bellucci, Ngai Sing, and Harold Perrineau Jr.

I absolutely love Smith's last words "no, that's not fair" bc it encapsulates what Smith has become compared to what he used to be. Smith used to be very eloquent and calculated, his speeches are often if not always perfect and concise. but as time went on, he becomes more unhinged and more emotional like when he laughs maniacally after claiming the Oracle or resorting to fist fights rather than being efficient. his last words "no, that's not fair" doesn’t sound grandiose as he used to be, it just sounds pathetic and it shows how vulnerable, almost human, Smith has become

simply terms, Neo was plugged into mainframe. Smith wasn't plugged in so he couldn't be deleted (or touch) Smith takes Neo's body, which plugins him back into the Matrix. After that they just delete Smith while also reinserting the code Neo was carrying into the Matrix which cause the reboot.

How ironic: Smith loathed humanity from the beginning, thus seeing himself superior, yet at the end he grows tired of fighting for nothing and when he's defeated, he says: "not fair!". All quite human, I say.

The Matrix films are something that I never tire of watching for Agent Smith, I love the way Hugo Weaving makes him speak, Smith truly is one of the best villains in any movie.

Just to explain:

After smith absorbed the oracle, the smith who had absorbed her got a vision that he was the one who would defeat Neo, but in truth. He had been lied to.

Neo realized this after Smith quoted the oracles words to him and knew that he had to let himself be assimilated, so he did.

What Smith didn't know, was that Neo was connected to the machine source, where he was supposed to go after Neo destroyed him in the 1st matrix. Therefore, the machines were able to delete him. :D

I love the way the smith in the end just says " its not fair" after all his intellectual dialogue in the movies

I love the symbolism in this. The orange crucifix of light on Neo's chest as the machine deletes Smith through Neo's body.

There's an explanation that says it pretty well here, but to put it into broader terms... In Reloaded, we learn that Smith was "unplugged" when Neo destroyed him. So, in essence the machines and the Matrix had no command or control of him. And he was capable of assimilating other sentient programs to create copies of himself (a little bit like a botnet, but obviously with much different implications). Reinserting Neo's prime program into the Matrix would only solve the problem of the system crashing. Smith would still have as much control over the system as he wanted. When the Deux Ex Machine jacked Neo in, his "carrier signal" was connected directly to the Matrix's mainframe. When Neo was assimilated by Smith, it ultimately resulted in two outcomes in one. First it gave the machines control over Smith (or rather direct access to his programming) directly through Neo. This allowed the machines to destroy Smith's program. Second, it resulted in the Prime Program Neo carried being reinserted into the machine mainframe. This reset the Matrix. Coupled with Neo's deal with the Deux Ex Machina, it very well may have saved humanity!

To 1): Neo didn't become the One until he was killed and came back to life again in the Matrix. As the Oracle says:

"Sorry, kid. You've got the gift, but it looks like you're waiting for something."
"What?"
"Your next life, maybe."

So it's possible that the Agents killing him was all part of 'the plan'.
