As a nutritionist, trained naturopath, somatic therapist and breathwork coach... WE NEED INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE. WE NEED MEDS AND FOODS AND LIFESTYLE AND TRAUMA THERAPY AND ALL OF IT. my colleagues often gdt angry at me for talking about medicine but if we need meds we need meds. We prevent with food, we treat with meds and lifestyle and food alike. We can't prevent and cure eveyrhing with just nature because this is not a natural world anymore. ❤ We need both we need all. We need integration 😍🙏🏻💖 beautiful video. Thank you, lovely lady 😎🥳

what helped me a lot was incorporating fermented foods daily to my nutrition. Food liike: sauerkraut, kimchi, pickled vegetables, quark/yoghurt/kefir ect.. :S

I've been working this year to heal my gut - found out I had chronically high levels of cortisol. Once I started moving away from processed foods, taking a pre/probiotic and also going through counseling and restructuring the way I mentally get through my days incorporating somatic exercises, my gut health improved unbelievably fast. Symptoms I did not even realize were symptoms just vanished and I feel like a totally different person.

this video was SO good!! this is the first piece of media that I've watched about gut health that actually gave real tangible advice backed by research and science and didn't try to sell me a supplement. I always take so many notes when watching your videos so I can implement your advice right away, thank you so much for everything that you do!!

I have endometriosis as well as anxiety, depression, and ADHD. So I severely struggle with poor gut health. I have eczema when I eat dairy, gluten, peanuts, and almonds. I get constipated when I eat over 60g of carbs, so on top of my food intolerances it really limits what I can eat. I see a lot of discourse about eating a diet high in fats, but it is the only way I can stay full without the carbs. I wish people would understand that one diet does not fit all, just like one medication won’t work for everyone.

8:53 i think as a doctor you missed a crucial point which is never stop taking the antibiotic yourself. Continue to take it as you try to reach your doctor or else you create a resistant infection, and you'll have to take an even stronger antibiotic

From my experience, when you heal the brain - omega 3, healty fats and stop eating sugars and processed food then everything else go back to balance.
Illness also disseapers by letting go of an emotion that triggers it, or when leaving stressful or toxic environment.

The main problem with trying to study nutrition by reading all of the studies is that every study is observational. It’s so incredibly hard to come up with outcomes that will cover general populations when the diversity in everyone’s gut is unbelievably vast. That’s why some people thrive on a vegan diet vs an omnivorous diet, but others get frail and weak and their system can’t process the fiber. People with certain inflammatory bowel conditions would get destroyed by nuts and seeds. People with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (often thought of as a root cause of IBS) do horrible with legumes and probiotics. The fact of the matter is that the scientific community has really no idea due to the enormous complexity of an individual’s microbiome. The science behind the gut is still very much in its infancy and it is plausible that it is just something we will never fully understand. That’s why the best advice, and the only advice that should be given is: try it out, see how it makes you feel, and then collect data (bloodwork, measurements, test results, etc)

I rarely comment on YouTube videos, but I wanted to take the time to THANK YOU. You’ve given such a fantastic overview, and you’ve included nuance that most creators are either unable or unwilling to give.

I have chronic sinusitis. I’ve had surgery 5 times, in addition to having my tonsils and adenoids out. When I get sinus infections, I often need long treatments of aggressive antibiotics, which has left me with so many stomach problems. But on the flipside, doctors are now hesitant to prescribe me antibiotics because of my history with them, which leads to worse infections, which ultimately leads to me being on antibiotics for longer periods of time.

I really want to take steps to cultivate a healthy microbiome, and I think you’ve done an excellent job at educating here. Thank you!

I’m currently fighting what feels like a loosing battle with my doctors, I was 72kg this time last year and I’m currently 89kg. I workout 6 days a week and eat clean, I’ve had a thyroid, cortisol, diabetes, lipids and cholesterol test and they’ve all came back with nothing, I’m at a loss and just want to feel good again 😢

It's so weird how our health changes as we age, and our gut is definitely a large part of it. When I was younger I was extremely high energy, ate like a horse but couldn't keep weight on, never had bloating or a stomach ache, walked at least an hour a day, and had tons of hair. I was naturally slim and healthy and looked like an athlete. Now, I am low energy, carry some extra weight, get bloated no matter what I eat, have periods of food sensitivities, get stomach aches regularly, and my hair is much more thin. I have tried so many things, but I haven't healed yet.
