SUMMARY:
- You can make a list of tasks for the whole week, but it's more productive to prioritize them every day. You'll see what you need to do immediately and which tasks can be postponed.
- You can change your plans at any moment. If you have been unexpectedly invited to a party, you can cancel one or 2 of the medium or small tasks on your list.
- Always check off the tasks you've completed on your list. This will serve as a reminder of your progress. It will also improve your mood and inspire you to continue the “1-3-5” practice.
- Music is created to make you concentrate on completing particular tasks. At the same time, it’s written with the purpose of not distracting you.
- A study led by Dr. Adam D. Galinsky from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University proved that people who dress to impress are less likely to lose concentration.
- Your body needs more energy to warm itself when you're in a cold office. As a result, you have less energy for concentrating on the task at hand.
- A 2012 study conducted in Japan stated that if you look at pictures of cute animals, your productivity will increase.
- Even a simple photo or picture with a prevailing yellow color can dramatically increase your focus and productivity.
- People who work in offices decorated with green plants are 15% more productive and efficient than those who work in undecorated rooms.
- In fact, people who enjoy daylight during the day feel more alert and energetic in the evening.

i’m a freshman in high school and i am constantly distracted. i can’t seem to find any motivation because my work is unsatisfying. when i do complete my work i just feel tired and i don’t feel like i’m getting anything out of my work. this’ll probably sound greedy or something, but i have found that i only feel passionate and motivated about a task when there is a reward upon completion. this is obviously a problem because you don’t get paid to be a student in high school....
my rant is over. any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm not much of a day person, but I understand the "natural light makes you more alert and awake in the evenings" because I have to walk from on end of my school to another to get to classes, after school at night time I'm usually not tired, sometimes.

Watching a 10 minute basketball highlights film helps me. Seeing the players take action on the court. Makes me want to get off the couch and take action in the house...

Listening to Nature sounds (like light rain, campfire etc.) in low volume helps me to focus on tasks much longer.

Can someone or admin of Bright Side please answer my questions?
Q1: According to what you stated from 0:56 to 1:07, how do we know if a task is big and important, medium and less crucial, or small and much less important so that I could prioritize my own tasks?

Q2: Generally, what I understood about 1-3-5 rule is that we prioritize tasks by their importance, right? But, at 2:32, why did you say we sort our tasks according to urgency? How do we prioritize tasks; by importance or by urgency or both?

Q2: According to concepts Try to work in natural light at 6:30 and Make it hot at 4:13 respectively, you said, "People who enjoy daylight during the day feel more more alert and energetic in the evening. As for those who spend all their time in artificial light, they feel much sleepier at the end of the working day compared to people exposed to daylight." By this concept, whenever I'm about to study, should I always need to find a time and place where I can see the sunlight? If so, should I face the window where the sunlight is coming through or should I turn my back towards the window where the sunlight is coming through?

Thank you.
