Pilot Vlog 102: flying a Cirrus SR22 - departing Moorabbin Airport, normal and short field circuits, low level go around, engine failure glide approach, and tour of the cockpit. With multiple cockpit cameras and a Cirrus CSIP Instructor on board.

Thanks to Mike, a CSIP (Cirrus Standardised Instructor Pilot) for showing me the mighty SR22 (VH-EET) and helping me understand the differences between it and the SR20 we usually fly (VH-TDS).

There will be a follow up vlog to this with more of a comparison between the SR20 vs SR22. Coming soon to this channel.

VERY IMPORTANT: I am a private pilot and am NOT qualified to give flying instruction. This video, like all videos on this channel, has been significantly edited from the original source footage and is provided for entertainment purposes only. Many radio calls and procedures have been omitted. If you have any questions about anything you see or hear, please speak to a Certified Flying Instructor first.

Filmed on a Canon 80D, various GoPros, and sometimes my iPhone.

Great Video Stefan! Always keen about your videos mate! Always wanted to see someone who balanced 2 interests in life which is technology and aviation. I too come from the same background but I'm just getting started with aviation soon and have a year left with Uni studying computer science in Brisbane.

To be honest, if it wasn't for your videos with mixture of aviation and travel vlogs then I would've been just focused on aviation after uni but you proved you can do both and clears up more option for me! I'm planning to start my training soon as I'm able to and be part of the aviation family! :)

Keep up the good work mate! Cheers.

Hi Stef - another great video - keep 'em coming. I transitioned from the SR20 to the SR22 3 months ago and can't believe how much nicer the 22 is. If you are ever up on the Sunshine Coast give me a shout and I'll take you for a fly over some of the nicest coastlines in Australia

Hey Stef it’s me again, just wanted to say a big thank you for your advice for the pre solo exam. I’m so exited that I passed and I can’t wait to go and do the actual solo, who knows if my landings are good enough maybe this weekend my instructor might get out of the plane for a solo circuit once around Bacchus Marsh.

I am glad it still looks good, spent two weeks removing the old decals, removing all the oxidation and coating it in Kamikaze Miyabi and ISM COAT PRO ceramic....

I have a decent chunk of time in Avidyne and Garmin powered glass systems, but I enjoy lookin' at the mechanical gauges too. Cool show!

Holy hell, she took off like a rocket on that short-field T/O. Nice.

Great video Stefan. The SR22 looks like a joy to fly. If you had to choose a different single engine GA aircraft next week, what would it be? Assume you don't have to be proficient - rather, just for fun. Maybe a top 5?

Hi Stefan do you own the SR20 or just lease per flight.

I guess you were going to upgrade eventually, onwards and upwards i say. SR 20 VS 22 is a bit like comparing Cessna 172 vs 182, bigger engine more weight means nose heavy and and will tend to drop faster when chopping the power. Always keep in mind the ultimate goal, the Vision Jet. Thanks mate.

I know you mentioned that the 22 has a more powerful engine, but are the dimensions of the aeroplane the same?

I’m loving our SR22 and you cannot best the performance ..at maximum weight..
Hitting 51 kt head winds the other day on the way to Adelaide and no problems. 200 kt GS on the way back 125 min flight time !!

You should join our syndicate.

Why didn't you turn right to the side of the runway when you did the go around? I thought you were supposed to do that so you would avoid collision with other aircraft in the runway
