I remember trying to play Skyrim VR as my first VR game. Not even 30 mins in I was drenched in sweat like I had run miles, was about to pass out, and my eyes felt like they were going to fall out! I shall try these and ty for getting to the point of the video faster than some ! Good luck in VR land peeps!

Had my first VR session the other day, I played for almost 2 hours non stop and started to feel it about an hour and 30 minutes in, absolutely love my VR but definitely suggest limiting your playtime

Also, if a person wears eye glasses for distance, there are prescription inserts that can be purchased from various vendors. If your distance vision is good but you wear glasses to read, then you don't need these inserts, normally the focal point in VR is 3 meters to infinity. Make sure you have your IPD (distance between your eyes pupils) is set as close to perfect as you can and make sure your eyes are aligned with the sweet spot of the HMD's optics for the best clarity, also, the closer your eyes are to the HMD's optics, the better the FOV (Field Of View) will be for any given HMD.
As mentioned in the video, start slow and don't stay in the HMD for too long, if things don't feel right, you can always close your eyes while in VR. I don't agree with not starting with a roller coaster ride, the trick is look straight ahead, do NOT look to the sides or up and down, my 1st few VR experiences were roller coasters and as time went on and I got use to it, I started looking to the sides, I can't say it felt great at first but after a few times, I got use to it and now it doesn't bother me at all.
I've been into VR since 2017 and love VR, sometimes in VR, you just have to tell yourself "This isn't real" LOL :)
Also, if the HMD supports 90hz refresh rate, go with that, any lower for VR newbies can help accelerate the ill feeling, once use to it, you can lower this if you wish.

when I first played a game with full motion I didn't realize how awful I was feeling until I stopped playing. that night it felt like I got a trauma or something, I remember feeling everything moving around me while I was just laying down in bed, that exact motion sickness feeling from VR but completely irl. that was the most awful thing ever 😭

I just got my Meta Quest 3 a little over a week ago. Was excited for Asgards Wrath 2 and I was fine my first play session. Last 3 have made me feel motion sick so I backed off. Like you said games like Pistol Whip, or rhythm type games are fine. Anything with snap turning seems fine so going to try to stick with those types of games for now. But I really want to play Asgards Wrath 2. Patience patience patience.

I just got mine as a gift from my kids. I've been tinkering with it and trying to get a feel for it. Definitely nauseating. Thanks for the tips! I hope they help.

I’ve just got my new headset today - was perfectly fine this morning trying it out, then after charging it and trying it again this evening, only managed to keep it on for about 10 mins before having to take it off since I started to feel really sick. So this is super helpful - any reccs for motion sickness proof games is welcome 😅

I’ve tried a VR a couple of years ago in Accetto Corsa and I’ve got motion sickness in 3 minutes. I hope with new ones I can tolerate it better.

Some real good ideas and hints. I'm new in all that VR Stuff since I've got a Meta Quest 2 now and Noticed i got motion sick whil turning and moving completely free. I'm just not used to turnung my vomplete body around instead of only a stick on a gamepad. so i use the tumb sticks a lot to look around and that completely destoyes me :D
I iwll definatly try the fan out to have a fix point! :)

Thanks for posting this. I am planning on getting the Quest 3 and it will be my first VR headset. I have tried VR a few times over the years and have done OK with no motion sickness but they were short spurts. I will definitely follow your suggestions. If you have any suggested VR apps or casual games I would appreciate some recommendations. Thanks again.

I just got a new quest 3 the other day and the first day I played “hyper dash” and “population one” with full locomotion and I powered through even though I was feeling motion sickness. WORST MISTAKE EVER. after I got done playing, I felt so bad that I almost returned my vr headset right then and there. I’m happy I stuck with it. I downloaded super hot and beat saber and I’m having tons of fun. I feel like I still just have to get my VR legs.
