Deriving my favorite equation - Euler's Formula

We derive Euler's formula using Taylor series:
e^ix = cos(x) + i sin (x)
in order to show my favorite equation:
e^(i * pi) + 1 = 0 .
We then show that trig functions (sine and cosine) are exchangeable with complex exponentials and show an example with solving for a mass on a spring.
