The equations of motion can be derived simply from examining the graphs of motion.
In this video I show how its done

I like how u made use of the graphs, sir. Its a more effective way for me in understanding where these kinematic equations are derived from. I'm glad that I've landed here :))

2:50 - 1st equation of motion [v=u+at]
4:15 - 2nd equation of motion [s=ut+1/2at^2]
5:55 - 3rd equation of motion [s= (u+v)t/2]
7:00 - 4th equation of motion [2as=v^2-u^2]
8:00 - 5th equation of motion [vt-1/2at^2]

Hi Paul, I am using your videos as a resource as I begin to make my own flipped classroom series for my students in Physics. I noticed at about 8:40 that you said the 5th equation would not include v when it does not include u. It had me confused for a while because the rest of the explanation was free from slip up. Don't know if you or any of your audience picked it up.

Thanks for this series, it is really helping my as I tackle teaching and recording videos in Physics for the first time!

omg thank you so much. My textbook didn't do a very good job of explaining where the equations came from. Now I understand. There are so many variables to consider (initial and final variables) that things can get confusing. I love how you differentiated between initial and final velocity as u and v, made it so much simpler! I've shared your video with other friends who are studying physics as well

Don't forget that you can curb this guy's talking speed by adjusting the playback speed.

I think I would have understood this better if we used numbers
