If any other editor is reading this, NEVER DO TEST EDITS!! A lot of times the people will say they’re just for testing your skills but will end up using them for real and won’t pay you. If anyone says they want you to do a test edits, send them your portfolio and reel and tell them that’s all they need.

Well, if you're a full time creator and this is a business then yes hire an editor to be consistent. If you're starting out then edit your own videos. How else will you get better until you're constantly in front of the camera and editing your own videos?
When i started my eyes were all over the place, constantly said "uhhh" a lot (I've limited it and still working on improving ). Sure, if this became full time thing then i would hire an editor so i can focus on writinf and filming more.

And im saying this as someone who worked as a video editor and considered editing other creators videos.

Several aspects of this video are insulting to Film/TV Professionals. I have 25+ years in this silly industry. 1st as an Editor now as a Colorist (16+). Test edits or color are asked by people that don't know stuff. If you want to "test" someone Learn how to watch a demo reel and understand it. Since 60+% of the job is communicating and listening, learn how to interview and listen & what questions to ask..
Is there a test for clients? Yes there is! If they ask for a test, they failed my test.

***Is he saying $1, 000-$1, 500 per hour for a world class Editor? I have not heard of an Editor making that for many years. But it is possible but is also maybe 1% of Editors these days.

I outsource all my editing, I’ve used upwork, fiverr and by referral. I pay $100ish for a simple edit and $200-350 for a typical video. The most I’ve paid was $500 but it wasn’t sustainable
