Hi there, I hired people based on personality traits, of course speciality mattered, such as accounting etc... what also mattered training and following up. So I say hire people that are smarter than you, train them, then let them run. I started a couple of companies from the ground up and this worked for me. One of my companies was a construction company, it was hard hiring trades but it worked form me.

I’ve ran my own construction business for 15 years now. I find it so hard to find that first one good employee to jump off from. Being sexy is a big disappointment to young kids when they find out that we work in the rain and mud and we ache and that’s real life. Don’t get me wrong I tell them and show them I appreciate them but inevitably they find out how much “gross” we make and they start to feel under valued then soon after, they feel like they are doing us some kind of favor for showing up and doing good work for the amount of money they agreed to hire on for. I love construction, but for actually making enough to send your kids to college and actually retire on, I’m starting to think there’s got to be a better way. Even being really good at your trade and trying really hard to be a good businessman doesn’t seem to be enough. #realtalk

Have a registered business and all that all I need is the insurance and stuff but my only problem is production. Idk if I should put ads and stuff out for employees or subs before I even marketed my business or what
