Dyslexia and Time

While many people understand how #dyspraxia can affect dyspraxic perception of space, #dyspraxic and dyslexic perceptions of #time are still poorly understood - even though space and time are intimately connected.

This short video explores some of the issues involved, and asks -
If you're dyslexic, dyspraxic, dyscalculic, or otherwise part of "the dyslexia family", are you necessarily going to have a linear view of time, as many society's demand of you?
And what happens, then, if your perception of time isn't the same as other people's?

Have a great... time 😉

I once dated a dyslexic. He was so amazingly present with the people he was with, just made them feel like the one focus in the world. But he was always so aborbed in the present that he would forget to leave to show up for his next person. Benefits and struggles.

I broke down and started watching the Netflix series "The Mind Explained." The first episode is about memory.

One of the questions they ask is, "Why are our memories so malleable?" They posit that the same structures in the brain responsible for memory are also responsible for our ability to imagine the future.

But if my mind works differently, remembers differently, might it also imagine differently? Might its relationship to time, its very idea of time be different?

Because I have nothing exciting going on too do it's like time is standing still almost. Like wander around confused and bored with no clue what too do time never seems to past. Like Earth version of purgatory

Unfathomable Sea! whose waves are years,
Ocean of Time, whose waters of deep woe
Are brackish with the salt of human tears!
Thou shoreless flood, which in thy ebb and flow
Claspest the limits of mortality!

And sick of prey, yet howling on for more,
Vomitest thy wrecks on its inhospitable shore;
Treacherous in calm, and terrible in storm,
Who shall put forth on thee,
Unfathomable Sea?

What Shelly gave us is a mood. A 3D horizon with dynamic power. An experience of a moving ocean, bottomless, that eventually swallows all. This is certainly not "linear". The waves that sweep us out, which are are "brackish with the salt of human tears", are not uni-directional. Time in this vision is a living thing that interacts with humanity. Certainly not "before, during, and after", but "bottomless" and raw. You can hear it!
