I had a near death experience as a child. It’s so vivid, even now. I was in a coma, when I had Reye’s Syndrome. The room was dark and either my Mom or Dad was by my side. I was in darkness, until brought into the light. Light was everywhere and I was in the lap of Jesus. He told me I needed to be strong. The light felt like love was everywhere as if it was God. I woke up after three days with no residual traces from my illness. Everyone thought I’d die or be handicapped or mentally impaired. I still feel a connection and I feel fortunate to not have to wonder if He is real. Just offering my experience as that, not to be judged. It can’t be and it’s not our job to judge others, but find a way to love them. Some need to be educated more than others especially when infringing on their freedoms.

Dennis is right about the difference between Judaism (as we know it right now) and Christianity. This is best demonstrated when Jesus was on the cross beside two thieves. The repentant thief will not be saved according to Dennis' explanation of Judaism, whereas he was assured salvation by Jesus who was in the middle of completing the work needed in his behalf.

What I think Dennis is missing is the purpose of the sacrificial lamb in passover and the purpose of yom kippur. Both are penal substitutionary atonement ceremonies to wipe the nation of Israel from their sins. These are done yearly in the temple. There hasn't been a temple in Jerusalem for almost 2000 years and there hasn't been an ark of the covenant in the temple for longer than that, so we could argue that Yom Kippur and Pesach have not been celebrated properly since then. Those are, I believe, central events in the Jewish religion.

In Christianity, Jesus is the fulfilment of these events. He is the spotless lamb of God who has become the penal substitutionary atonement for our sins. Since Yom Kippur and Pesach are only foreshadowing of what is to come, Jesus being the perfect sacrifice who was only to be slaughtered once for all, despite not having a temple and the ark of the covenant in Jerusalem, our sins can be forgiven if we put our trust in Him.

Dennis, Abraham "believed" God and it was credited to him as righteousness.

Nah.... Not buying it. This isn't the biggest difference. Lack of faith in Christ is.

John 14:6

”Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

Judaism is still looking for its Messiah. Christianity states that the Jewish Messiah has already come. Judaism then is still awaiting its salvation and Christianity proclaims that it has already arrived - in the person and work of Yeshua. So Mr. Prager is partially correct in saying the difference lies in both faiths view of salvation. He is also incorrect in stating that this difference in "salvation" is not dependent on who Jesus is - Judaism rejects Christianity's claim and thus rejects the salvation that their Messiah came to give. That is the difference.

Christians believe the Messiah has come while Jews practicing Judaism are still waiting for the Messiah.

The pastor made a point: Nobody is good enough, we are all sinners. That is why we need a saviour and forgivenes. If God judges us justly nobody deserves salvation.

Can’t understand why Jews don’t accept J because…

-At his death the temple veil was torn.
-That’s when sacrifice stopped.
-He was a Torah observant Jew from line of David.
-He was prophesied in Isiah
-Yes Catholicism has changed Christianity since as well as Constantine. This stopped Christians following the appointed times. They are misled. Sabbath.

Protestants don't believe in faith without works. We believe that faith produces works.

God bless you brother. Thank you for being so honest. It’s refreshing to hear a clean honest discussion about eternal things. My father’s in the hospital ICU tonight. Those internal things are heavy on my mind. The problem is he imperfect….and I am imperfect. And the question is not what is good but how could I possibly be good enough. God is good. It’s only through his grace that I can be good. I love what you do. You are a blessing.

It says in the New Testament that faith without works is dead.

I learn a lot from my Jewish brothers and sisters about the Old Testament. I just recognize Jesus as God becoming flesh and
Receiving in Himself my punishment. That’s why He is the lamb of God.

His initial statement is dead wrong. The most significant issue/difference between Christianity and Judaism IS Christ. In every religion, it is always Christ. What you believe about Christ and how you respond to Him will determine your eternity. Galations was written for men like Mr. Prager. "By works of the law no man will be justified" Rom 3:20

The moment he said "I think, " gave away that this is an opinion video. It should be illegal to call this channel Prager University when it's not a University.

Asking what is "good" is an accurate question because we butcher the use of the term.

I'm a Christian man, and I love listening to the wisdom you share.

What do you think, when a person says, "Jesus was a Jew, and Christianity is really a Jewish sect"

Thank you for all you do Dennis!

Dear Dennis,
I know you will recognize this prayer:

Avinu Malkenu, have mercy on us, answer us, for OUR DEEDS ARE INSUFFICIENT, deal with us charitably and lovingly, and redeem us.

A friend of mine once said this during a Shabbat meal:
"The main difference between Christians and [Jews] is that they believe the commandments are optional, but for us they are mandatory". It still rings true to me.
Obedience brings blessing and disobedience brings negative consequences. Even in our obedience, we fall short but that is when we rely on God's mercy. He is our salvation.

2:35 there's a huge difference between a good person and a good pizza.

Good is a MASSIVELY subjective term. And in Matthew 5, Jesus tells us that the plain reading of the Torah is just the surface. It's not enough to not physically commit adultery, but rather that if you look lustfully, you've committed adultery. It's not enough to merely refrain from killing someone, but that if you are angry with someone, you have killed them in your heart.

So St. Paul is correct when he says "There is none good, no not one." And, by the way, Paul is quoting David (Psalm 14) when he says it. So Mr. Prager... what do you mean by "Good?"

I think the pastor had a good point when he asked "what is good?" After all, Huckleberry Finn thought he was sinning, and was going to Hell, when he decided NOT to turn in an escaped slave. Yet we would all think of that as a virtuous act.

But this still doesn't demolish Prager's point entirely. Even if not everyone will agree on the best behavior in certain situations, if a person acts on his/her most honest notion of what is good, that should be enough in most cases.

I think it boils down to what "believe" means. In the Greek, it's "entrust". Also, Jesus must be *Lord* (dictionary: a person who has authority, control, or power over others; a master, chief, or ruler.) of your life, not just savior. Romans 10:9 "That if you confess with your mouth *Jesus as Lord, * and *believe* in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
