It doesn’t need to be 1/2 or 1/4 inch, it can be right there at the base above the leaf node.

This video is a poignant reminder of the delicate balance between human and nature. It is a humbling experience to learn how something as simple as snipping off the top sets of true leaves on a basil plant can lead to an abundance of growth. It is a true testament to the power of nature and the impact our actions can have on it. I am grateful for this knowledge and the opportunity to nurture our basil to its fullest potential. This video has touched my heart and I will be sure to share it with others so they too can experience the beauty and abundance nature can bring to their lives. Thank you for sharing this valuable information.

This is so helpful, my family loves basil, we use so much of it in our cooking to make delicious pesto and Italian dishes. We’ve failed at keeping basil plants but I will for sure try this!

You can do this with (almost) any plant. You can harvest lavender greens as well like this and it makes the plant thick and bushy.

On larger plants you can also root your cuttings and replant

I do this with my sweet basil as soon as i notice new true leaves i just pinch it off with my nails while I'm in the garden in the morning, never had any issues doing it like that. my sweet basil growing bushy and dense like a dang shrub after a month or less. Definitely getting harder to spot the new true leaves with how bushy its become.

I also do that with mint but I cut them shorter down, take all the leaves except for the top ones, put the stem with the couple leaves inside water and then they will form new roots and you can plant a new mint while also helping your existing mint to grow better

Great video. Question… Did you grow them from seeds inside? And did you use a grow light to keep them going?

Have you grown Thai basil? Would the trimming and propagation be the same?
