I also throw fresh basil into blender with Extra Virgin Olive oil, blend lightly, then freeze in small ice cubr trays, then store in freezer bags. Can defrost one at a time, toss over salad, mix into scrambled eggs, toss in soup, make pesto, etc. Thanks for the great video.

I planted some bean sprouts along side my replanted basil plant in my outdoor garden hoping it will support my basil. Glad to find out that was the right move. Just gotta be sure they both like the same conditions. Basil plants hav been a challenging plant for me to maintain. And i hav it beside my pumpkin patch cuz i was hoping the pumpkin scent will cover the basil smell from attracting pests...maybe. grass hoppers might become a familiar foe if im not cateful. Happy to find out the basil will ensure bees visit my pumpkins too

Basil was about the only thing that made it through this summer of me learning what a cruel mistress gardening can be. Love it! I've been giving transplants to friends for a few months now!

Your basil looks amazing. We planted a couple new ones next to our big one that survived the summer. We also have one that refuses to die. It’s surprisingly hardy. Hoping to have a full planter next year. 🤩

I (thought I) did all the things recommended in this video -- prune and remove flowers throughout the season -- but I ended up with thick, woody stems and very few leaves, which were small and sparse, for harvesting. The plants (standard, Greek, and purple) were in a medium window box, got plenty of Michigan sunshine, enough water, and several feedings throughout the summer. All three plants split into branches and regularly flowered, but the leaves just never got large or lush. The plants ended up mostly stem. I had nice, lush oregano, parsley, and thyme plants growing in some of the same size boxes. Next year I'm going to try moving all of them to a small in-ground garden for some room to spread out.

I don't think you left anything out in this excellent, properly paced instructional. I will think of you every time I make pizza this summer.
