Weight loss for knee arthritis is often recommended by healthcare professionals. And it’s a great starting point to begin to fix your knee arthritis problem. In fact, this research study shows a direct connection between improvements in knee osteoarthritis as more weight was lost.
THAT’S AWESOME!!!

But what if you don’t have much weight to lose and you still suffer from knee arthritis?

What if you did lose weight and you do feel better, but you’re still suffering from knee arthritis pain?

There’s more to it than just weight loss.

Dr. David takes you through the research study and then discusses what else can be contributing to your knee arthritis problem.

Here is the research study that Dr. David references
“Is There A Dose-Response Relationship Between Weight Loss And Symptoms Improvement In Persons With Knee Osteoarthritis?” 2016

Lost 90 pounds since 2020 and now doing things I couldn’t do since 2014. I was told “bone on bone, need a knee replacement.” I didn’t want to go there. Low carb diet and resistance training got my health back!!!

I had arthritis pain Everywhere .My neck used to creak when I turned it . I modified what I ate dramatically . The less plant matter, seed oils I consumed the better I felt. Until I was eating ruminant meat based lifestyle . I have late stage Lyme disease and multiple auto immune diseases . I also needed a 7 th knee surgery, but did not have insurance to pay for it. The swelling and pain went down after 2 years . If I eat almond flour my body hurts almost instantly . Be your own advocate and pray . I pray for wisdom and knowledge . The body is designed to heal itself .

I can vouch that having lost 140lbs has greatly helped my mobility and knee pain. However, the knee pain has flared up recently due to a fall.

I lost a lot of weight and it did nothing for my pain. So NO weight loss can not be a pain relief maneuver in every case

Hi Doc . I found a very good pain cream. Can I cause more problems by doing moderate exercise while cream is working.

Sitting with my heel on a chair in front of me, with a five kilo bag of rice on my knee has so far made the biggest chance for me. Lost thirty kilograms as well.

Wouldn't It depend how much you weigh to start with? If you weigh 350 lbs and you're 5'2" 20lbs wouldn't help. Junk and processed food don't help. And yes, muscle balance helps immensely.

Is it really about weight loss? What about strength? Would a muscular but short guy have knee arthritis as much as an obese person who weighs the same?
