Bodycam: Seattle Police Officer Jokes About Woman Killed by Officer

Seattle police officer Daniel Auderer has been taken off patrol duty and reassigned to a non-operational position after a bodycam recording revealed him laughing and making remarks about the death of Jaahnavi Kandula, a 23-year-old student from India who was struck and killed by a police SUV on January 23. In a phone call with police union President Mike Solan, Auderer can be heard discussing the crash, stating the speed of the vehicle, and commenting on the value of Kandula's life. The comments have prompted an investigation by Seattle's Office of Police Accountability.

The Seattle Police Officers Guild has stated that the recorded conversation was taken out of context, claiming that the officers were mimicking how the city's lawyers might attempt to minimize liability for the incident. As a citizen of Seattle, this is a complete embarrassment. Both of these scumbags need to pay. The reckless cop who hit her should be in jail, and his buddy here should be run out of the profession. Just as an FYI; our Mayor and city council decided to set a 25mph speed limit on ALL streets in the city. Driving in Seattle is such a nightmare it's not worth it, and that is the city's plan.
