Thank God that guy was there! You can see he's still shaking from it all, but God bless him for helping to rescue that boy and his grandfather from a bear attack.

At age 10 a bear crushed in the tent my sister and I were in and had his foot on my sisters head...we counted quietly to 3 and then screamed, "DAD" at the top of our lungs and it scared that bear so badly it jumped into the air and went crashing off through the forest. I can't imagine how that kid felt or his WC bound grandparent felt until the hero arrived on scene to show that bear who the apex predator is round here!

It would also be helpful if local Connecticut news stations stopped showing "cute" videos of bears swimming in people's pools, etc. I've encountered several bears who have clearly lost their fear of humans. And this is not the first attack on a person (and dogs) here in Connecticut.

I love Bears and have had several of them pass through my yard without incidence but this bear became dangerous and the officials did what they had to do. The little boy was PLAYING in his Grandpa's YARD, he was not off "invading" the Bear's space or doing anything destructive to the Bear. The bear attacked him biting him in the foot and the grandfather was striking the bear to make him stop, the bear retreated and then came back a second time getting a hold of the boy's leg and attempted dragging him, he was definitely looking to make a meal out of the boy. That's when the neighbor helped and the bear stopped and left, but even after they brought the boy into the home the grandfather said the bear returned, pawing at the screen door. It's sad they killed the bear but it was in human hunting mode and had to be done.

Thank goodness that man was there, and ran toward the danger. We can't seem to convince people to not feed the wildlife. You rarely hear of an attack like this, but with less natural food, and less wild acreage these encounters will only increase.

I had one in my yard last night. Lucky I scared him away.

I had bears that would wonder into the yard time to time in northern wisc. I always had a BAR 7mm mag loaded near the door in case ever needed.

Then you have irresponsible people deliberately "loophole feeding"(guising as something unintentional) bears and other wild critters to make cute videos. Encourages the animals to lose fear of people and makes it more likely for things like that to happen to others that are/aren't doing those things.

250 lbs Bear I hope someone donates time processing that Bear and sends the meat to a Homeless Shelter. That Bear can make a lot of Meals for the Homeless.

People intentionally feed bears like they are pets. Don’t feed them and they’ll pretty much stay away from humans.

lmao i love how they say its not normal for a bear to want to eat human. I've seen deer and horses eat birds..

The boy is more important then the bear

change of story? The grandpa claimed he solo'd the bear himself according to another interview. I found his story over exaggerated. Highly doubtful a bear will be scared of someone in a wheelchair.

This is why bears should be domesticated, so we can breed the aggression out of them.

It’s fall and bears are trying to fatten up for winter hibernation. Didn’t know Connecticut had bears?
