Detroit 4-53T Silver Governor Rebuild

Rebuilt a DW-LS governor for my 4-53T Silver, I used two governors to make this one.:) I'm configuring this Silver the same as the Silver in my Ford F350. This way it's both a spare and an engine for the Diamond T.:)

Gave you a sub. I have a 653 marine series in my old fishboat. It has a slightly higher compression ratio(21 to 1) than the terrestrial models. It's so reliable that apart from regular oil changes I don't have to do any maintenance. There's an old guy(in his late 80's) in my neighbourhood that knows everything about Detriots. He found this engine for me and did the assembly several years back. I often visit him to say hello. It's kinda sad to think that all his knowledge is going to go with him. i had one blow up on my old skidder ...mines the drivers side type ..i found a nos passenger side one on ebay and put most of the guts in mine ..back then i had a diesel mechanic who lived next to me .... i really miss him ...these are very sensitive governors ...i went around and was tighting up stuff like valve covers and noticed a missing bolt on the top of the governor so i replaced it and i had to readjust the rack ..parts are crazy expensive for this stuff now...there used to be more skidders around., , they just crushed everything throughout the Maritimes

Jeez why are they so expensive!! 😂 i am buying a 4-53 that has the governor, arm to the fuel rack and the rack were sold 😒 engines locked up apparently
