very good boat engines. i worked for lucas marine in sacramento and we had a slew of them. gensets, welders, boat engines. series 53 components interchange. cant say enough good about them.

Detroits are bulletproof engines. Especially the series 60.

I found one in a loader on the ranch. Would love to stuff it in my 78 Bronco.

nice engine what is your opinion on this type motor i am looking at a boat with 2 of they quality easy to work on dependable etc ....thanks for your reply

The DD 4-53 maximum rpm is about 2900rpm which sounds like 5800rpm since its a 2 stroke. But to be honest these sound the same almost the same as a 4 stroke 4 cyl diesel.
