As a single woman with no kids I have to agree. I have had my female friends, ironically more married women than single women, borrow money from me many many times and honestly I started to realize it was mostly for things that didn't even matter. I finally just stopped because there's just no way you're going to use money that I work for to go shopping. Life is way too unpredictable. I don't even blow my own money so I'm definitely not about to let somebody else do it for me. I guess people think when you don't have kids that you don't need or want the money you went to work for.

I totally agree with you sir. It’s so sad to see how we black women spend a lot of money in beauty supplies buying artificial hair, nails, eyelashes etc…The owners of these beauty supplies don’t even use their own products. They make tons of money on us.
I am going all natural now . I feel good and I’m keeping my money for my family.

I only been shopping for food. I stopped buying clothes 4 years ago. I drive my Mercedes I had since 2013. She still runs and look new. Got rid of cable early this year and stopped my membership at the gym. Oh yes….i been on the game for a while. I don’t buy designer brands…my daughter work for a company….shes a buyer for them…so I got the info what go down. I’m retired and I’m going to stay retired (state government). Also, I got God on my side, and I listen when he speaks to my spirit ❤. Amen 🙏🏾

I've been cooking my own food for 33yrs & I treat myself to eat out once a month. I raised my kids on home-cooked meals & when they ate McDonald's or other fast food, they were in heaven.😂
You save more money when you cook at home because you can go back for leftovers. I've also done my own hair for the same amount of years, whether it was a wig, extensions, braids, or styling my own hair. I've saved so much money doing that!
I've been in an apt for five years since I moved out of state & sold my house. I'm not in a rush to buy a house for at least another 4yrs. I had to buy a car last year, due to my transmission going out on my old car. I will not be buying another car once I pay this one off in 3yrs! My family is always telling me I should be a financial advisor because I'm definitely the budget queen!😂

I’ve started tracking my spending for the past 2 years and I’m doing better with prioritizing needs over wants. I’m going to set my intention to do a “Low Spend Year” next year and that’s only buying basic necessities (with a few exceptions) and plan to save, invest, and pay off my car next year. I'm the exception to the statement that Tony made. I'm a single Latina woman with no kids. I live below my means. I own a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom single detached house in southern Cali. I have 6 months' worth of emergency savings. I have no debt except my house. I have mutual funds retirement plans, roth 403B, 457 acct, and a regular 403b. I think I've done pretty well. He is not lying!!! I noticed that I am getting daily emails and texts from companies that I’ve shopped with in the past. Plus all of a sudden my former personal shopper at Nieman’s emailed me. It’s been over a year since I was shopping like that!

You are 1000% right We (Black Americans) consume more than we invest.
We transfer the money we earn in to stuff that loose value. Instead of investment that appreciate in value.
• White folks and Asians buy luxury items from the profits of their investments. Not their income.
In other words if the profits from my stocks (dividends) or rental properties can’t buy the luxury item. I can not afford it.

Saving 20% of our income 1st forces us to live on 80%.
This is the key for building financial security on a modest income.

I love my mom but she tried to make me feel bad for not buying Christmas gifts. First of all I don’t have the money and second of all if I did I would be saving it or buying food and gas. She goes into debt every year buying gifts. I don’t want to be the way. I want to be smart with my money!

This was the best message I've heard in a long time. My church does not talk about money like this. It's always pay tithes and give. I've never heard anyone say invest in yourself. Whatever your gifts are, go and sharpen them so that you are prepared to sell direct. I started laughing when I heard you talk about this. I'm a 63 year old who teaches, and I have a grown daughter and grandson whom I'm living with at the moment. Long story, but I'm preparing for the draught... God Bless you and your family.
