Spending less is easy when you see all the benefits of it. In this video, I explain the positive things that happen when you spend less money!

My Favorite Personal Finance Books

Many people think that spending less and living a life of less is about deprivation and scarcity; however, it is actually have abundance and empowerment. In this video, I want to challenge you to see the benefits of spending less and living a life of less by sharing 5 benefits of spending less.

1. Everything Becomes Cheaper

Instead of stop spending money, just stop spending money you don't have. The problem that most people have with money is they spend debt, which makes their lifestyle cost up to 12% more because they have to pay interest on everything. When you only spend the money you have, you naturally spend less, and your lifestyle costs a lot less.

2. You Can Live Your Life More Freely

Since most people spend debt, they end up owning money to a lot of different people. This makes them a bit less free to make decisions in life because they also have to consider the interests of the people they owe money to. When you only spend the money you have, which naturally means spending less, you don't owe anything to anybody and can live your life more freely.

3. You’re Not A Pawn In Someone Else’s Game

The argument that consumerism makes is that you are broken and products can fix you. And many people believe this argument and end up living a very materialistic lifestyle. All consumerism is, is a rich man's game where corporations try to maximize profits to please their greedy shareholders. When you see consumerism for what is it, you don't only spend less, but you want to spend less because you don't want to be a part of the game.

4. You Can Take More Risks In Life

We all have dreams of doing things out of the ordinary in life; however, money often holds people back in taking the risk. I believe in order to take a risk in life to pursue your dream, you have to have courage and financial stability. When you live within your means, don't take on debt, and have some savings, you are more free to take chances in life.

5. You Don’t Have To Work As Hard

Money is just a representation of time where we exchange our time for money. When we carelessly spend our money, we are wasting the time it took to make the money; however, when you are more intentional with your spending and spend less, you don't need as much money and so you have more control over your time.

Call me crazy but this is why I’m glad I never bought into credit cards. I applied for one when I was 18 and didn’t understand the concept. Why borrow when I can just use the money I do save for expenses? My family still doesn’t understand how we can live without credit, but I do. Just save your money, it feels like you really earned things

The credit card vs cash comparison only applies if the person carries a balance. You’re actually better off using the credit card and getting rewards, and paying the entire balance off

We are taught that happiness comes from spending money and material acquisition. But spending is an addiction that can be overcome.

Did anyone else feel somewhat embarrassed when watching that Black Friday stampede? It's one of the largest gatherings of broken people in one place that we can ever witness.

Holidays for us means doing something nice for one another at Christmas, decorating less, and enjoying time with each other. It's a lot less stressful than running up the credit card bill, racing around for gifts, etc.
