My name is literally Cassandra and I've been feeling this way since I was a small child. It's really sad I've learned more about myself from videos on the internet than any doctor I've ever seen. Smh

If you are experiencing the symptoms of Cassandra syndrome, then you are spending most of your waking hours in some degree of fight or flight. In other words, you’re living under the influence of cortisol and adrenaline (i.e., the stress chemicals) too much of the time. To recover from the syndrome, you will need to spend most of your waking hours in the parasympathetic nervous system, which is rest and repair. Then you will be living under the influence of acetylcholine (i.e., chemicals that are responsible for dilating blood vessels and slowing the heart rate).

I’ve had so much shame around the amount of rest I need during the day but after hearing what you’re saying, it actually is what I needed the whole time

And it's worse now that I am in a toxic chaotically ran job that's ran by a dysfunctional family. Trying to find another job but need the income and can't afford it to just stop and He won't help me. He is unsupportive and says just go to work and ignore it. I can't live checked out like he does. Need love and support more than ever and he claims he's too busy. Had a big blow up. I feel depressed, anxious and my stomach hurts daily from stress. This isn't what a relationship should be like. No care or affection, "too busy to be bothered"...

I literally dread sleeping. When I do sleep, I cry and whimper or wake up screaming which I never did before I was married. He gets irritated and stays as far on his side of the bed as possible and complains the next day that he has to work and I'm probably doing it on purpose

I have ASD and I spend almost all my waking hours in fight or flight mode when I’m around others, because they can’t possibly understand my experience of the world. I guess most of my relationships have made me feel like this. Some only experience this in one single relationship in their whole life and they can choose to get away from it, I can’t.

Thank you Mark. I have been feeling badly that my interests seem to involve self-soothing and about being less interested in challenging myself professionally or physically. This insight will help me move forward in a healthy way.

I do believe I have Cassandra Syndrome. My muscles stay extremely tense. I take a half muscle relaxer if i wake up in the middle of the night; which is most nights. I will check out the links. I joined the Facebook support group 😊 Waiting to be approved. Im getting myself together. I felt myself slowly detaching from others. Can't allow that to happen..no way 😅. You are a Godsend Mark 💕. My counselor is helping as well. But she doesn't specialize in ASD. I may sign up for your group sessions.

This was me 100% of time until earlier this year. Now? 33-50% of the time depending on what's going on. Monday I have a f/u appt w/pcp to discuss how new blood pressure med is working. Definitely will discuss this CS issue.
