What he’s recommending here is not generally true; beginner, park beginner especially children’s boots are typically soft and sometimes foldable to that point - that comes down to the strength of his arms too lol.

The softness corresponds to a more delayed and ‘softer’ response in boarding, which is usually best for beginners. If your once stiff boots have suddenly become this soft, then it’s worthwhile replacing but that should not happen quickly, especially with good care.

This is terrible fact, not all people are rich enough to often change their snowboard boots every year. It's probably time to switch to skis :(
