I actually read that they're making these changes to all new controllers they're manufacturing, so this will also include the white, red and black controllers. One commenter on Tronicsfix's video mentioned that any controller that has it's model number followed by a tiny Capital "A" will have these new changes implemented.

IMO for the price people are paying for the PS5 Sony should send out a new controller if it’s found your controller failed bc of these mechanics. Right?

I’ve never experienced any issues with any of my game controllers in my life, until last month with my original dualsense controller. Since it’s the first time ever that something like that happened I wasn’t to bothered with buying a new one for once, but I thought the cosmic red controller looked nice. When I went online to buy I saw the three new colors and liked the nova pink one even better and went with that one. Seeing this right now makes me even more happy with this choice

On the back of your controller. Check to see if there is a small capital A after the model number. If there is you have one of the upgraded controllers. Any colored controller can be an upgraded one, including white, red or black or any of the new colors.

I've had my PS5 8 months, and I play it almost daily have never had an issue with stick drift, but it's nice they're fixing it either way. But what I want them to fix is the horrible battery life in the controllers. These things need AT LEAST a 3000mAh battery in them. The battery life was a huge complaint people had with the DS4, and they turned around and made the same mistake again with the DualSense. They should have been striving for DS3 levels of battery life.

Other than that I'm waiting until they release a transparent controller before I get a new one (Barring I won't NEED one before then).

Just so you know you can definitely find out how new the controllers are by looking at the box. They have a date on them. Either 2021 or 2022. Go with the 2022 one to be safe.

Wasn't aware of these problems until now. I've had my PS5 since August 2021 with no controller issues yet, thankfully.

I replaced the trigger spring and it was super easy. Took maybe 5 minutes. Another option if you don’t want to buy a new controller. Springs were like $6 for a 10 pack

My original PS5 controller is still solid after a year and some change use, fortunately. I have the black version as well and its still feels brand new. Glad i have yet to have stick drift, or any other issues. 💯

One of the upgrades they made was increasing the thickness of the springs on the triggers (you can see them at 1:06). This was critical. On my original controller, the springs broke on both the R2 AND L2. Replacing the L2 spring took HOURS and was so frustrating. I cried.

I'm waiting until they do a crystal PS5 controller, I like that see through style of controller.

Would have liked to know what these mechanical differences are in the new controllers rather than just showing an older model being taken apart.

Yeup, just got my galactic purple last week. And you can actually tell the difference. My 2 original whites still work and have not shown noticable failure. I didn't even know about there potential failure. I just love the colors. Purple is my favorite color. But since I've been playing on it, I do notice the difference. 👍🏾🎉

Can’t wait to have the 4th iteration of the controller when I can finally get my hands on a console.

I'm on my 4th controller... This has never happened on any of my other consoles (I own pretty much everything)
very unimpressed with the ps5 controllers

Just bought an galactic purple one. The internet said you can spot the "newer" models on the FCC ID on the back. If the last letter is an A you got the newer one. Got my PS5 in december last year, and that white Dual Sense has an A as well as the last capital.

I got my midnight black controller from amazon since February. A letter “A” is written back of it which is good then. It’s great so far that I’m not detecting issues with it, it is fun, except I don’t have a PS5..

I saw a comment once:
Any controller that has the model number followed by a smaller capital "A" on the back will have these changes. Even the white and red/black if anyone is curious, great way to tell without opening it up.
