Generally, as a console ages, they release a smaller, better, CHEAPER version.

One of the main reasons why I prefer to play most of my single-player games on PS5 and not PC is due to the physical game collection aspect. Already £700 for a slightly better-performing console too the one I already own isn't appealing. But the fact Sony have the balls to not include disk drive and sell it SEPARATE for like £80... is a huge slap in the face, if you are primarily a physical game owner.

PS5 Pro in Australia is
$1199 Console
$159 Disc Drive
$60 Vertical Stand.
Thats $1418 AUD.. Get F**KED!!

I couldn't find a single positive comment on the PS5 Pro presentation. No disc drive or stand included on their premium model is an absolute joke. Sony has lost the plot.

For comparison, the original PS5 with disk was launched at 50, 000 JPY.

No way. $500 is the max for me when it comes to consoles. When a console starts to get into the pricing territory of a decent gaming PC, then it’s no longer worth it by comparison.

I’m excited for it and preordered, yes for the resolution and performance upgrades but also for this potentially being the last PlayStation with a disc drive even if it is optional. I also want to get a Series X for the 360 and OG Xbox backwards compatibility. I don’t think next gen will have disc drives at all.
