I bought an RTX 4090 near or on release day, and right away I was very impressed. As time went on my opinions began to change, and after spending thousands of dollars on it I now feel like purchasing an RTX 4090 was a big mistake, and I regret buying it.

He had some computer problems using a 4090 and then bought a 7900xtx and it just worked
The problems: sound delay and alt-tabbing out of games took 5 seconds to load desktop (he suspects because of freesync monitor)

I bought the 4090 and no regrets at all. I have not had any of the issues mentioned, Knock wood, up to this point. As a matter of fact I haven't had any issues at all with this card period. Buy. Install. And get ready to feel the power my son!! 4090 is a freaking beast!!

I never had any of the issues you have described, not saying you did not have those issues, just saying I have not experienced them and other reviewers have not mentioned them. I would agree it is a good idea to mull over any decision before you spend a lot of money, though trying another monitor might have been a better idea than getting a new GPU. People should probably look at buying a GPU like they would buying a car or house. What can I afford, what does it have to be able to do? What would I like, what do I need -answer those questions then look up the reviews and compare.

I was able to get the 4090 founder edition, shortly after launch - left it stock, and it has been a beast. I've been enjoying the 120+ refresh rates. It's definitely a great buy imo.

I didn’t know nvidia had audio issues on the 40 series. I bought a 4080 and haven’t had any issues. The only issue is I paid the same amount for a 4080 as much as you sold your 4090 for lol

I purchased a 7900xtx Sapphire nitro plus. I must say I am pretty impressed, coming from a 3080 ti. My main concern was using it for video editing with Davinci Resolve. It handled 8k 60 Raw with color grade and denoising like a champ. I still intend on trying the 4090 and its currently on the way. But I have hard time seeing myself choosing it ahead of the 7900 xtx. I do play Cyberpunk but it plays psych ray tracing good enough on UE 1440 with FSR

My only regret was spending so much on a 4090 when it was released, but then when the competition came out all regrets diminished and am very happy with the card lol. It's just so much more powerful than anything out there I'm not even interested in anything else.

The fact that the 7900xtx is literally 700-800 less and performs so well even makes me want it over a 4090 lol. Not to mention im more of a native gamer. I just want high frames. Funyn thing is so much more can be done then people show which is why native gaming amd does so damn well. 1:09

I got a 4090 founders and GSYNC OLED. It is amazing. With Ray Tracing and DLSS 3 is next level. More games will be using all types of RT and the 7900xt is a good card but not close with RT. Always good content but no way would have got the 7900xt. Should have replaced the monitor. Lol.

Hmm...are you rocking a modern Intel CPU? I have a feeling that some of your issues might be CPU related, such as the alt+tabbing delay and the audio problem.

4090 Works for me. Highest frame rates at ultra for 5K2K I've seen yet since my 2080Ti, 3080, 3080Ti.
No audio issues, as I use DP for the monitor, and get audio thru a USB Headset, and/or Optical out on the Mobo sound card to the speakers.
It renders all my videos in DaVinci Resolve rapidly. Works well with Premiere Pro too.
Works with OBS like a charm. I can capture 5K2K gameplay video, downscaling them to 3840x1080 and record/stream them very little FPS impact with no stuttering or frame drops. The Ryzen 7950X helps here too.
