The RTX 4090 is already Obsolete - Here’s Why
Nvidia will be launching new RTX 50 GPUs soon which will likely make the RTX 4090 completely obsolete. The latest rumors point to 2.5X greater raytracing performance. If true even an RTX 5060 could be faster than an RTX 4090 in many games.

Hot Take : If developers would optimize their games you wouldn't need to buy a GPU so often

We've heard this meme before, when rumors about the 30 series were popping up: "3060 RT performance on par with 2080 Ti"

I'll wait for that RTX 8080 Ti Super Titan Super Ti...

Just make sure the 50 series doesn't use more power than 4090 and don't ship it with horrendous coil whine. Now that is an upgrade.

People, don't buy 5090 on release. In a year after there will be 5090 Super which will have $200 price drop. But do not buy it either, in one more year there will be 6090 which will double the performance of the 5090. But do not buy it either because...

Where would that 60% raster performance come from, without a significant node improvement?

3090 -> 4090 had a 64% improvement (Techpowerup), but it moved from Samsung 8nm to TSMC 4nm, a huge process jump. The 4090 also had a huge L2 cache increase (an order of magnitude); something similar can't be done again (not enough die space, and TSMC 5/4nm is right at the limits of SRAM scaling).

There are also no meaningful leaks about a new architecture feature which would enable this (something like Zen 5's leaked ladder cache, except it would need to be more impactful).

bros talking about the 5090 since the rtx 4090 came out...

I bought a 4090 on release day, not worried one bit by these rumours. Game Devs build games that target the latest gen consoles, as long as your PC can match that performance anything else is a nice to have for PC gaming.

Were's this going ? - RTX 9090 / i13 - 21900K @ 15Ghz with an air-conditioned Case for 16K gaming ? Do you get a coupon towards getting a dedicated 20 Amp circuit installed in your home. ( to play a game ) 🤣 Way beyond ridiculous.

Sure... but a 5090 would require a 1200+ W PSU, and will heat up your room by an extra +5ºC on load, and will probably not fit in about 80% of the standard ATX Mid PC cases out there. And of course will probably be the first GPU to reach the $3, 000 price mark.

Man it would be really nice if we could just get our PCs to catch up with our monitors for a decent price

How many releases are we told 2.5x faster only to get 30% faster? Ok well... maybe this time.

More rumors and speculation from a channel grasping for relevance.

4090 owners will sell their GPU, and buy the new one, that's how it always works.

You forgot to mention that 50 series is gonna support DP 2.1 most likely - which is also important.

Imagine owning a $2, 000+ card with melting power connectors, no DisplayPort 2.1, and that's already old and obsolete...

I used a 960 for 8 years and then upgraded to a 4090.... i wont be upgrading for a long time

Maybe the 5090 will provide another great leap in performance, but we know what Nvidia does to the lower cards.
