The RTX 4090, with its top-of-the-line performances, grants the best gaming and workstation experience possible; why am I saying that it's useless?

I was actually using my PC yesterday to play cyberpunk maxed out and my 4090 was TOTALLY useless. I took it out immediately and dropped in my gtx 1060. Massive difference!! My 4090 is now a paperweight for my desk. Thanks for the video! It made me realize what a POS I had in my desktop.

You mean it is too powerful. If you are a streamer:
4070 = one NVENC encoder
4070 Ti, 4080 and 4090 = two NVENC encoders

The 4090 is explicitly made for high refresh rate 4k games. Most monitors these days can easily push 120hz, often much more. Now personally I dont think it matters much once you get over 90fps, the point of this card is high res high refresh, and ray tracing. If you arent doing those things, you dont need a 4090.

There's a few problems with Nvidia's lineup, the 4090 is technically useless when you factor in that no CPU currently can push it beyond what a 4080 allows in a lot of games, Hogwarts Legacy and Spiderman Remastered come to mind, even at 4k Ultra with RT. The problem I have, here in Australia is that the 4090s were $3000-$3600AUD but the 4080 was $2400-$2800AUD with the 4070Ti around the $2000AUD mark, and at the time only the 4070Ti was out and it's a 12gb which isn't enough for 4k right now.

I was already spending double what my 3080 cost going for a 4070Ti so I might as well just get the 4090 if I'm already spending that much. To me a 4090 is more worth the $3200AUD I paid than a 4080 was worth the $2400 or a 4070 worth the $1600, because I get a card that will actually last more than 2 years. The prices have dropped a lot since I bought my 4090 in Feb 2023, so the 4090 models are like $200 less than they were but the 4080 dropped by like $600-$800 so it's actually less of a bad deal, still 3080Ti and 2080Ti price for a 4080 is ridiculous.

All those new features work really well on The Beast and whilst the card is stupidly expensive that is offset by its longevity.

When I was looking I wanted to buy the 4080, I think it's a great compromise. Unfortunately at that time the 4080 was 100-200€ ABOVE msrp and the 4090 100-200€ Below msrp.

Not saying it was the smartest thing I ever did but buying the 4080 just did not feel right at the time. The 4070 has too little Memory in my opinion to be future proof.


I'm happy running Cyberpunk maxed out knowing that I bought the only graphics card that comfortably can :D

i do gaming and working on my pc, 4090 is really convenient, but for pure gamers, i think 4070/7800xt is the best gpu for value (at least)

Well, i have arog strix 4090 oc and i am realy happy with it. i can render fast, Looks like trash but works just fine. For gaming only a 4070 would be better

If you have a high refresh rate monitor at 1440p even the 4090 does not give you enough speed

if you can go into a games files and set the fps cap to what ever you want, couldn't you just set the fps cap to and call it a day?

I got my RTX4090 OC + 7950x a month back... now i finally have 1k fps in minecraft like a boss!

Fun fact: 1080p with the 4070 gives higher FPS than 4K with the 4090 at the same settings.

To be honest, I need it because my work requires high poly Revit projects, with also using other programs for textures and ray tracing.😊
