VR with a 4k per eye resolution, the 3090 runs around 25-45 fps, 4090 runs 70-90 fps. So i think the 4090 is actually a viable upgrade

I think for the savviest of savvy buyers, buying the highest end of last gen will always be the go to method. It's about timing the buy to maximise the value. Let me explain, what's happened to the 3090 will also happen to the 4090 once a 5080 costing far less and beats the 4090 in all areas (probably except memory buffer), therefore the values will tank and thus enter your savvy buyers to pick up a top card for a fraction of the cost of its MSRP.

If your doing VR with a good HMD, you're gonna want a 4090 flat out. Pimax will absolutely max out the VRAM and be pushing 80% GPU load.

i bought 4070 aero at launch... got a 2nd for my kid... then got a 4080 aero opened boxed for 960... i felt in love with it the aero 4000 series... so i obviously got the 4090... msrp... everything you said is absolutely right. no regrets tho.

What's this title and who's this dude ? If you need raw power and can afford it at the end of 2024, just go for it. Nvidia's lineup ain't cheap, they're greedy, you'll pay a premium, but you'll get what you came for as of today. If you plan to game at 4k or ultra-wide with decent perfs, that's the way to go! enjoy!

Sound advice, unfortunately many will empty their bank accounts because they strive for the best to mainly show off to their mates or convince themselves they need it when they don't, but that best is only going to last a few months till the 5xxx series wipes the floor with it, in general, if you want to spend sensible, buy medium-top tier cards from the last generation.

Lmao bought a used pc with a 7800x3d b650 board and 4090 for only $2200. Now is the best time for buying cheap top end used parts because everyone is trying to get quick cash together for the 5090 and 9800x3d releasing soon, and those builds are gonna cost around $3500-$5000+ for what maybe a 25%-35% boost from last gen?

I got my setup with a 4k 120fps still needs DLSS frame generation for most games to get those frame rates, but it looks incredible. Mostly I got it because I think frame generation is incredible and games will look fantastic for many years because of this technology. For anyone wanting one I'd say wait for the 5090 since the 4090 has problems like melting connectors, I'm sure the jump in performance will be huge but the price might also increase a bit and it'll probably be sold out for a few months, so keep that in mind.
