LG C9 OLED vs. LG C8 OLED: Which is the better buy?

preview_player
Показать описание
LG's new C9 OLED is an outstanding new TV and likely to be one of the best five TVs you can buy in 2019, but with the 2018 LG C8 OLED still available for purchase at a much lower price, does the C9 make a compelling case for spending a premium? We compare the LG C8 OLED to the newer LG C9 OLED model to help you decide whether it is worth splurging for the C9's new features, or saving some cash on the already excellent C8.

The C9 is great. It allows me to be able to afford a C8. :P

Still over the moon with my C8. As of now, the C8 costs eu1249 here in the Netherlands, and the C9 double that... So seems a no brainer to me.

The C9 sounds like a great TV on paper but after watching RTings video on it seems like it's plagued with software issues atm. Might wait another year for them to fix everything and hopefully it will be cheaper then. The C9 is definitely what I'm going to go with because I have 7.1 Dolby Atmos surround sound so eARC and HDMI 2.1 are critical to a great experience. Thanks for the info Digital Trends.

Though I do love to play games, I believe the c8 will be fine for the many years ahead. Had lots of fun of my LCD 10 years old...haha

For future proofing...C9 is the way to go especially if you game due to HDMI 2.1.

The C9's menu is actually larger if you take into account the extra content bar that pops up ABOVE the menu. Even when the menu is minimized, the size of the screen taken by the content bar is greater than the menu of the C8.

0:00 - 0:05 Caleb, sandwiches aren't named for the pieces of bread on the outside...
Just like books, boxes, and most people, it's what's inside that counts.

I just want to know if it has better picture quality, I'm not interested in the rest.

PQ curve? Pixel structure vs old panel, brightness improvements? Nice video but really lacking in informative details.

caleb you didn't mention that both of them are prone to the burning issue with this oled technology vs the qled from Samsung or led tv's from lg also that aren't prone to the burning issue

I use the zoom feature on my E8 when watching Fox Sports to get rid of their poxy logo to avoid burn in and think it's a brilliant. I'll get the C10 at the end of 2020 which should have a recognisable improvement over the 8 series.

I just grabbed a brand new C8 55 for $750. Couldn't be happier with it!

Failed to mention that the C9 has Apple AirPlay 2. C9 is more affordable now. 1800 for the 55.

Guess I'm one of the few who enjoy the live zoom option. I find it awesome when streaming older shows that were filmed in 35mm i.e. The twilight zone, mission impossible, star trek and a ton of others. Zoom of 120 - 130% fills the screen nicely.

I'm thinking, wait till next year when the PS5 comes out, get the C9 after the C10 is released and the price goes down to where the C8 is now; HDMI 2.1, eARC, VRR, ALLM is all on the C9 and the PS5 will work well with all of it

C9 is $1500 for 55" or $2100 for 65" at Best Buy. Newegg and Amazon have the 65 C9 at $1699. Today is the Sunday before Black Friday 2019 in the US.

Just looking through the specs, the C9 has less input lag, important if you're a gamer. Somehow this isn't mentioned in the video.

I just returned my 65SM9000PUA Nano TV for a OLED65C9PUA. The main reason was the SM9000’s blooming in dark scenes along with the dirty screen effect with silhouetted corners and no deep pure blacks. The OLED65C9 is nothing short of awesome.
