I have just bought two new Sandisk 128GB SD cards and I'm having this problem - however, when I follow your steps and go to Disk Utility I'm not getting the option to rename it - only to Run First Aid, Restore, Initialise or eject it. The camera is showing the images so the card is fine but I just cannot transfer them to the Mac. PS Both cards are brand new and formatted on the camera as usual and the card reader sees other older cards.

I do not see an external in the disk utility? So I am not sure where the issue is. Can you help?

Ok, I can open the microsd card now, but the jpgs are only visible on the image capture and not in a folder I copied them either in Pictures or in downloads. The computer does not read the files

Awesome! Totally worked. I accidentally improperly ejected an insta 360 from the mac. This totally worked for it. About 182GB of video I thought I was gonna have to reformat. Another video I saw of a guy that started to rename the files from this same device. This guy spent hours figuring out how to find the files & recover the names using an excel spread sheet. Good thing I didn't need to do all that, thanks for this video. Didn't spend more then 30 mins finding the right video, this one here.

I held off on updating to Big Sur. Finally did it in April 2021 and this bug/issue has still not been solved. Just troubleshot for 1 hour before I found your video. Thanks for the info!
