How to fix Micro SD Card not showing up in Devices and Drives Windows 10

Hey guy's R4GE VipeRzZ here and today I'm going to show you what to do if a Micro SD card isn't showing up in Devices and Drives. To fix the problem you will need to allocate the Micro SD card volume a drive letter using disk management.

As far as I'm aware this method also works for Windows 11

Sd cards are prone to corruption so I try to never store anything important on them for long. Sometimes a card won't show through disk management, but it does through a data recovery tool. Sometimes a card's drive letter will show in windows explorer, but the sd card is not readable. I find cards connected via usb sticks corrupt more often than through any sd card slot. Most often for me with issues, a card will show, but the storage size of the card won't show, eg In windows, from 'my computer'. The drive is there, but explorer grinds to a halt trying to read it. Recovery tools often also show the sd card as having 'raw' data. If you cannot change the drive letter, try using a different card reader or stick which can occasionally fix issues when the card isn't at fault, and a recovery is not always necessary. As a last resort you could also try another computer or compatible device to try and read it (ignoring any formatting options)

the ONLY VIDEO that REALLY fixed my problem MY GOD. I had my SD card reader which was wokring only on the standard SD reader and not the micro SD one. I tried uninstalling from device management, rebooting, reinstalling drivers as all the websites were suggesting and nothing. I thought that the micro SD card reader was just broken. Not even Ugreen suggestions before returning the item were suggesting this.

If anyone else is having trouble with their sd card not showing up, my micro sd adapter was messed up. I switched it out with another and it worked just fine afterwards.

my micro sd card shows up in disk management, not in the top list of disks, but in the bottom list of disks, as disk 6, any fix for that please?

My card is showing up as "Disk 2" but when I attempt to assign a new drive letter, I get the error: "The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer." I followed those directions to no avail. This is all being done on a Windows 10 computer. The SD card does work on my chromebook however. I don't understand.
