In a nutshell...main character energy is when someone takes control of their lives and strives for growth and positivity in life no matter what hurdles might be lurking in the corner.

Only thing I don't like about the attitude of "being a main character" is that it puts other people below them and inflates ego. If you're happy and healthy and caring, awesome, but don't forget that doesn't mean you've beaten someone else at existing.

I have the energy of a classic rom-com anime antagonist.

- Abused during childhood and is still in pain.
- Struggles to get the girls he wants while the "protagonist(s)" get them easily.
- Tries to be good but is never good enough for anyone.
- Tries to fit in but gets left out.

My life sucks.

Technically, everyone is the main character in their own life.

For me, I'm better as a side character energy. The main character always need to do something with the pressure 😂🔥

I remember when I dodged Covid for three years while everyone else got sick and thought to myself:

“Huh. So this is what it’s like to be a main character”

"Do you have main character energy?"

*Laughs in side character/npc energy*

It’s funny… one of my core beliefs is that each individual is the protagonist of their story, yet for a long time I came to associate myself as “a side-character in everyone elses’ stories at best (and a background extra most of the time), ” a symptom of severe impostor syndrome left unnoticed and unchecked to the point it became detrimentally toxic, withering my story from the inside out and leading me into many a dark night.

It’s only through countless instances of self discovery, many of which were involuntary and/or happenstantial on my part, and some via others’ dauntingly positive perceptions and feedback, that I started to see myself as “more [insert objectively good quality] than I thought I was, ” and those surprises are still happening even now, albeit at a more gradual pace (with the occasional “whoa, I didn’t know I had that in me” spike).

Seeing this video has not only taught me the phrase “main character energy, ” but shown me that I have all six characteristics listed, albeit in a still-self-conscious capacity; I don’t want the potential prestige to go so far over my head that my ego ends up bigger than the planet Jupiter, ‘cos it could undo all the progress made so far in this journey of healing and discovery of purpose… 😅

We are all the main characters of our own movies ^^❤

Good luck to everyone seeking growth and character development though!

it doesn't mean you give off main character energy, it means you take control of your own life and try to grow as a person. i do this

It's not so much that I feel like I should be the main character or see myself in all of those. It's just that, those secondary characters who all seem to gravitate around me, the general weirdness of my life, and that guy who shout "action" whenever I enter a room while cameras turn my way, is giving me suspicious vibes. 🤔

Man I wish I had main character energy😅. But on a serious note, I'm fascinated by how you reframe the idea of the main character. Points such as displaying high levels of empathy and enjoying the little joys in life are ones that I can relate to personally. I was even surprised that embracing self-discovery is a "main character" trait. Another amazing video, great work @Psych2go!

P.S. I really liked the narrator in this video(they had a nice relaxing and laid back voice).

The expert mentioned for narcissism is Dr. Ramani, Durvasula is her first name. And yes, she is truely an expert and very helpful.

This can either boost my confidence or worsen my narcissism, which is either a good sign.
