I'm A Sociopath; Do You Actually Care About Mental Health or Just Sad People?

Diagnosed Sociopath (aspd) Kanika Batra believes that you don't really care about mental health, just people who are sad. When it comes to personality disorders, people are supportive until they show symptoms of the disorder itself.

That’s right ! 100%, that is correct!

It's STAGGERING how differently people treat you the moment you start acting openly disabled, mentally ill, neurodivergent etc

I had a group project in uni with some classmates I thought I got on with well. I figured hey, I'll be open about my difficulties with my autism and adhd, to avoid any miscommunication later.
Well, long story short they ended up bullying me so bad and the administration would do nothing about it, so I just quit and it's the best decision I've ever made

It's all "oh we support you" and "we understand you're disabled and it's okay if you're struggling" until MY symptoms start becoming an inconvenience to NTs, suddenly I need to make an effort, I'm dragging the whole project down (never mind that nearly every time I tried to express an issue I got dogpiled and verbally abused)

I support people with mental disorders to get the help they need, but it doesn’t mean I will endanger myself to support people who may be unsafe for me!

I’ve been torn apart by people with BPD and lost the will to live due to someone with npd/bpd/hpd rolled into one.

We are allowed to run for the hills when these people decide to get their claws out!

I 100% feel this. I have complex-PTSD, and people say they support people with mental illness until they actually start acting mentally ill. I'm glad you are speaking so openly about your disorder because all people mostly hear that sociopaths are evil from the society around us.

I understand what you’re saying. The issue I find with some of your videos is you glamorize your disorders with some of what you say, and you revel in revenge, which shows you aren’t trying to really change.

Plus, you have said guilt and remorse are basically bad from being control mechanisms. They’re not bad. Control is good to stabilize and keep from chaos in society. Lack of control is detrimental to everyone.

As someone who is crippled by guilt/remorse and anxiety/panic often, this is so fascinating! Almost like a superpower or something!

I know it must be SO much work though! Choosing to do good each day when it doesn't hurt your feelings one way or another is something to be extremely proud of!! Far too many people can't say the same! 💜

I have BPD. There are so many days I envy your disorder knowing you feel nothing. Sometimes I wish I felt nothing just to be able to DO something. But I know every disorder is fucked regardless. I agree. Can't support illness but deny the symptoms. I love your account btw. Bringing great light to your Disorder. So much stigma around it.... thanks for being you💗

As someone diagnosed with BPD, I need others to take their masks off to reveal what I knew was inside them the entire time. Show me the darkness within (that we all possess, ) and I'll always stand by your side.

As an overly-empathetic person I can say there is a fine line between supporting mental illness and enabling toxic behavior. Where do you draw the line between trauma response and decision? How much can people be held accountable for their behavior? I ask myself this every day as both a mental health advocate and a victim of narcissistic abuse.

My sister and I have CPTSD she disassociates and has always been accused of being cold and standoffish. I over emote and have been told i am an overly sensitive drama queen. People who are supposed to care only care when it's not in their face. We both have been told to "tough up" as if panic attacks and major anxiety is because we are weak. It's really sad how much people think you can control when they have no clue and have never had to deal with this kind of thing.

I agree. I have bipolar disorder, and am pretty high functioning when my symptoms are under control, but once I start having increased symptoms? Boom! It’s like a magic trick where I make everyone close to me disappear from my life.

I think the reason people get mad is cause most sociopaths will lie to make it seem like "yes, I can change, I'll work on being more empathetic" Only to not stick to the promise. Supporting mental illness stops where the ill person starts hurting you, that's when you need to protect yourself. It's not really that inhumane to be mad or disappointed when someone lies to you and makes you look like a fool. I'm pretty sure most sociopaths react allergic to being treated like that as well. Like I can support mental illness without allowing someone to use me and abuse me. For example, you can have a loved one who's an alcoholic and continue loving and supporting them, but if they get home drunk and angry and start breaking ur stuff or become violent, there's no way to support someone in that state. And while you're trying to work on yourself, let's be honest, most sociopaths see no reason to do so unless they get into trouble with the law or lose their reputation etc.

One time I got fired from work and the manager had someone call me telling me not to show up for work anymore because I was late for work a few times (mind you it was only 10 min late for 5 days in a row). I had problems sleeping and was in a low point on BPD symptoms trying to keep myself together and do a great job once I was at work. He didn’t even had the decency to call me directly.
I was very honest and open about having BPD and he claimed to be a big supporter of people with mental health struggles and an “empath”. Needless to say I blew up his phone and texted him at least 20 times until he told me he had to let me go because I was late for work and he couldn’t deal with that. He NEVER gave me a warning or told me there was an issue and praised the quality of my work. What an “empath”

I’m proud of you. I’m a mental healthcare worker, and if I could teach my clients what you know, I would be so grateful. I’ve shown your short vids to clients, to help them see that they can integrate. Thank you for the work you are doing! I find this to be public safety and health announcements. Keep doing you!

As someone with extreme BPD, I get it, I hate when someone will say they understand and get it, but then push back when I need reassurance, pushing me farther back into my diagnosis and causing me to freak out and lose control of myself. I can’t help it, so I need other to understand it with me, I need a strong coper to cope beside me instead of cope against me.

Having ADD I felt this. Thanks Kanika, also for giving more insight and understanding about cluster B personality disorders.

You still have value. It's not your fault. It's a disability. I'm glad you're choosing to be as much good as you do
