I was diagnosed with ASPD. And I know why. For the first 4 years of my life, I was emotionally and physically neglected. I was born to an alcoholic mother in Ukraine, where I wasnt shown love or care. 6 months later I was thrown into an orphanage where I was emotionally and physically neglected for another 4 more years. Leading me to not feel things like guilt, anxiety, sadness, depression, and the one I struggle with the most. Love. So I just kind of stopped using emotions or even cared about other people's emotions and feelings in that orphanage.

My adopted parents would always say that I never cried because I had too. I only cried because I wanted to. And that usually always to manipulate my parents into giving me what I wanted. I grew up with a conduct disorder that made me incredibly violent towards people. I struggle heavily with trusting people. Which doesn't help with creating strong and meaningful relationships. So I tend to live a very lonely life.

Im 23 now and live a happy and healthy life. I understand my emotions. I can control them, and I live a successful life. I have since learned cognitive empathy.

I still deal with tendencies, and intrusive thoughts daily, but I understand what they are, and overall I can live a happy life, if not a bit lonely. But that's best for me and the people around me.

This definitely helped clear out the confusion I had on that subject matter! Thank You.

Now talk about combined psychopathy/sociopathy with narcissistic personality disorder that dominates politics, corporations and other powerful organizations

i thought these weren't considered diagnosable categories anymore and it has been replaced with ASPD in the latest DSM.

Sociopathy is a malignant coping mechanism.

I'm mad at my notifications for sending me this now. I like getting the vids when they drop. On a different note, this is a good subject because a lot of people use these terms interchangeably.

My raw experience with psychopaths is an amazing lack of empathy. They're often the sort of people that make sane people think about killing them.

This channel provides concise information on a broader range of subjects than I directly associate with anatomy. Have you considered altering the channel title to elucidate the scope of expertise provided?

Psychopaths are born.
Sociopaths are made.

If you just had the physical but not the environment characteristics of a psychopath what would that look like? would they still be a psychopath or a lesser psychopath?

I have traits of sociopathy. I'm really quite overly empathetic and emotional, which led to childhood trauma having a more profound effect than it probably would have otherwise. Not that there was a shortage of trauma, however. In turn, somewhere along the way I learned to disassociate my emotional state, as something of a survival mechanism. I have to be careful though, because in that state, I can't really tell how I or anyone else would emotionally react to a situation, as I'm almost purely logical and computer-like when I'm in that frame of mind. I can do things that are downright callous without noticing, because I can't frame a reference for how I or another person would react to my actions; that emotional response is totally removed from me at the time. This mostly comes up as a result of anxiety, though I can call it up when I need to as well. The scary part is, though, that because I understand it's not something I can reference against how I would normally react, I also have a diminished sense of responsibility of my actions in that time, even when I'm back in my more empathetic state. A part of me genuinely is concerned that should, for whatever reason, I decide to do something more extreme in a disassociated state - like murder - that I don't believe I'd be very bothered by it even when I return to a state that would abhor such an action normally. As such, I make it a rule to be pacifistic and law-abiding to something of a fault, just so I never need to see what's beyond that door. Serial killers all seem to mention something like this as well, often called "compartmentalization". Basically, what happens when they're "active" has no impact on who they are when they're not hunting a victim. They can sustain perfectly normal work and family relationships, because the incredibly twisted things they do when compartmentalized is kept at a safe distance from their "normal" psyche.

This is interesting, I was having a discussion with some work friends on whether people like bundy/ dahmer were born with their tendencies or not, i said i think on the most part that people like this are genetically disposed to end up this way, where the others said they think it was a gradual thing that ends up occuring
