Eh, I always struggled to make friends throughout my life. Many times, I *thought* I was making friends, but then found that they didn’t like me after a while, and I didn’t know why. 4th-7th grade was the highlight of my social life, because I was amongst other homeschooled kids who were just as strange as me. :-) As an adult, I enjoy a lot of “me-time” and find it difficult to stay connected with the few friends I do have. Sometimes I feel lonely, but other times I find myself surrounded by people who truly care about me.

i think so many of us have trouble making friends whether or not we're on the spectrum. These are great tips, but think they could be useful for just about anyone now. Have you read "The Girl He Used to Know"? I thought this was a great book for introducing autism to the public without being in your face about it. Fun video tackling a tough subject.

I find it so hard to make friends myself. My cousin has autism and selective mutism so it's near impossible for him because he can't talk to people. I might share this with him!
