I'm an ESL instructor, and I love using these videos when we teach about employment, interviews, resumes, etc. "What Not To Do" is a great discussion-starter!

Everything’s all wrong, messed up. You don’t walk in into a interview like that, it shows that you’re irresponsible for not deserving the job.

Sara didn't have experience, she neded a job, she tolked her father sick and she didn't focos convertation.

Susan T. Hello, I'm Susan Thompson, the human resource manager here.
Sarah. Hi.
ST. Have a seat. Sarah, tell me about yourself.
Sarah. Well. My baby doesn't sleep at night, and my dad's been really sick and he needs my help a lot.
ST. OK…. I see. Did you bring a resume with you?
Sarah. No, I put everything on the application.
ST. Ok, Um, I don't see any work experience here. What kind of work experience do you have?
Sarah. I haven't had a job.
ST. Ok, do you have any one who could give you a reference?
Sarah. Um…(phone rings, Sarah picks up).
Hi. At 7. the party’s at 7. Um yeah, I'll bring the chips. ok, bye. What did you say?
ST. I said, Do you have any references?
Sarah. What's a reference?
ST. A person who can tell us whether or not you're a good worker.
Sarah. Mm. No.
ST. OK, do you have any questions for me?
Sarah. Mmm, no.
ST. Ok, umm, Why should I hire you, Sarah?
Sarah. Well, Because I really need the money. I have a lot of problems and I really need a job.
ST. I have a lot of problems too. And I don't need any more. Nice to meet you.
Sarah. Can I have the job? How much does it pay?
ST. Oh, I don't think you're the right person for the job. Good luck.
