There are churches that would say that when the culture and the Scriptures clash, then Scripture must bow to the culture. How much trouble this has gotten us into, and how dishonoring to God this understanding is. First of all, we cannot do with our bodies anything we want. We do not have the freedom to sleep around with whoever we wish to. The act of sex is reserved for marriage and is not to be used outside of a marriage relationship. I know that sometimes, those who are married deem it necessary to have an abortion for whatever reasons, but, most of those who get pregnant and want an abortion are young unmarried girls. Abortion is not an answer for an unwanted pregnancy. If a family is truly poor, then the child can be put up for adoption. I think we need to get back to the Scriptures and then we wouldn’t have such a serious problem with women going for abortions. We need to uphold marriage and family values. Most of all, we need to preach the Gospel message to those around us so that they can hear the words of life and be transformed. When people learn the ‘fear of the Lord’, they will live in obedience to Him. But when we think the Scriptures are not relevant to today, then we will live in a society that will fall apart. We can do something about that today. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that if anyone is in Christ, he or she is a new creation. All things become new and old things are passed away. We can give this message of hope to those around us. We need to do this while there is still time.
