Today we will look at two popular distros, both based on Ubuntu. PopOS was designed by System76 for their computers and features a ton of behind the scenes modifications for stability. Linux Mint is the go-to choice for new Linux users because of the stability and simplicity.

I distro hopped looking to replace XP. When I tried Mint it worked immediately. My whole company now uses it.

I'm using Linux Mint primarily because I'm not looking to distro hop coming from Windows 7, I mean don't get me wrong, I distro hopped a little bit early on, but I quickly settled on Mint because I just want a computer that works as a computer and not a distro hopping machine. At the end of the day, we all know (Or should know) distros don't really matter, it's how good you are at configuring your distro of Linux to do the same tasks any other distro can do. For me, Mint is the most familiar, so I use mint.

PopOS is my daily OS, Linux Mint is my backup fav. I do use Linux Mint for all my server needs just because I can trust Linux Mint to always work and it works very well. I just prefer PopOS because one I like Gnome 3 and two I prefer it's more modern and flat look but I still re-theme PopOS anyway.
Never had a problem with PopOS updates - just saying. But I also will say that Linux Mint is the most rock solid GNU/Linux OS I have ever used.

My story with switching to Linux (Ubuntu at first to be exact) is that my PC would bluescreen a lot on Windows, and after the update last year, my windows bugged out and nothing worked so I tried Ubuntu and that worked fine, I thought my pc was damaged, but apparently not! And now I juse switched to Linux Mint, love it so far :)

I have a System76 and I love it. Bought back in 2013, and at that time came with Ubuntu 12.10, has since been upgraded all the way to 20.04 (beta), though I don't run their spin (of Ubuntu that it came with, nor Pop!_OS) I run Kubuntu.

To be simple: if u have new hardware/high hardware(gaming), then go for pop os /mint cinnamon,
Or else low end hardware, then go for mint Mate

I like both, I like the tiling in Pop!OS and I will always have a soft sport for Linux Mint, it’s a system that can be made beautiful theming without needing to know much about open source. I run Arco Linux (Arch) as my main system but I really love these two distros. Of course Arco is really beautiful out of the box.

Fantastic neck to neck comparison. I use Linux Mint as my daily driver and tried popos via dual boot. One thing I noticed in Popos is that it does not have Grub menu. Need to use space bar key to boot into other os. Apart from this, it is just superfast and font used in Popos is eye catchy. On the other hand, Linux Mint is meant for great reliability .

No contest. For me, Linux Mint wins hands down.

PopOS is good at providing close-to-vanilla GNOME experience. I do think that their colour scheme looks tiring after using the computer for a long time

Out of the box flatpak support in mint is great, both the distros are very close to my heart

7:19 - Linux Mint does have a OEM Installer, Joe Collins did a video on it... in 18.3, I think it's the last option on the Bootloader.

I think ALL Ubuntu flavors have a OEM Installer.

If you want to do heavy graphic card dependent work.. then go for pop os... It has best support for graphics cards

Joe Collins of EZEE Linux on march 12, 2020 did vid on installing Linux mint for someone else.... so I think it's very close if not the same as OEM installs. A very good video

I like both. Will give mint another try in the next release. It didn't like me having two graphics cards nor two monitors.
