Sharing amazing vitamin c alternatives which will deliver hyperpigmentation fighting without sensitivity and help you to easily layer your skincare routine. Anti-ageing alternatives.

Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where today we are talking vitamin c alternatives which will help tackle hyperpigmentation without the sensitivity which can be associated with ascorbic acid.

I love vitamin c serums and they have delivered so much benefit to my skincare routine. However an effective vitamin c can leave the skin feeling irritated and with sensitivity which can make it difficult to layer skincare and leave you dreading reaching for the ingredient.

In this video I want to share with you some anti-ageing alternatives to vitamin c which will help tackle hyperpigmentation, discolouration and dark spots in the skin. These ingredients will also provide some great antioxidant benefit and boost the levels of collagen in the skin.

I believe passionately in doing what is right for you when it comes to skincare and your skin care routine. Remember these are only thoughts feelings and opinions and so if you love your vitamin c serum the keep on using it. I want in this video to give some alternatives for those who cannot tolerate Ascorbic Acid.

I would love to know what your thoughts are on vitamin c serums and the results you have got so please leave me a comment below.

I you enjoyed this video please give it a big thumbs up and a like as it supports me and the channel so much.

I’ve decided that I should be first as it is my birthday! 😂

Only vitamin c I’m using anymore is the derivative being used in the got you covered super serum. My skin doesn’t miss l-ascorbic acid…. Love you!

I have never been able to use pure vitamin C. I had the worst skin reaction ever when I tried The Ordinary's 23% vitamin C product. It looked like a 2nd degree burn! I have used TO's Ascorbyl Glucoside serum for many years now, and love the glowing skin it gives me. But the product that has really addressed my hyperpigmentation is TO's Alpha Arbutin+ B5 serum! It is the safer version of hydroquinone, but without the side effects. It can actually prevent dark spots😱 Plus it layers well, I can use it twice a day, it brightens the skin as well as helps smooth it out and releases slower so it's great for sensitive skin. I've been using it for four weeks now, and my skin is more luminous, and my spots are almost GONE! AND, it's considered an antioxidant!!!

So true, Rob. Tranexamic and azelaic acid are the real MVPs for hyperpigmentation. I use a pure form Vitamin C but that's more of its antioxidant benefits. ❤

I'll be honest, I've never ever wanted to try vitamin C. I use tranexamic acid and alpha arbutin and they work perfect for my skin. Great video Rob!

I am not able to use vitamin c, even the few derivatives I've tried have left my rosacia with tiny little welts. Thankfully because of you I am using azelaic acid and my skin loves it!!!

Great info, per usual:) Right now I’m alternating Timeless vitamin c and Ghost Democracy’s lightbulb vitamin c serum which I use when my skin’s sensitive. I also love Hylamide’s sub q skin (which I learned of from you). I adore you and your channel (need to comment more, lol).
Thanks a bunch, m’dear🍃🌸

I've only ever tried the derivatives, and even those can cause me some irritation when my skin is feeling sensitive. I definitely think it works best for me when combined with other ingredients, like in the MAS serum or the Face Theory Cera-C toner. Those both have been really loved by my skin! I also discovered tranexamic acid thanks to your channel and it's helped a lot with some minor hyperpigmentation I've had.

I've been using Vitamin C daily for a couple of years now. Thankfully I've never had an issue when I use it. I have used several different strengths and no irritation. Even though I've never had an irritation I can NOT stand the stickiness that comes with some of them. My favorites that aren't sticky on my dry skin are: 15% Vit C and EDF from the Inky List, No 7 Radiance eye cream, Vit C 23% HA Speres from The Ordinary, Glow baby glycolic acid Vit C from Pacifica (which smells like a dreamy Creamsicle). The ones that I've tried that were too sticky for me was Vit C from Facetheory and Sea and C Love by Pacifica. I have more that I have tried but can not recall.

Hi Rob my rosacea hates water based pure form vitamin c - the low ph needed is just too irritating for me. The water free formula makes me look like I've done a really orange fake tan and on pure white Scottish skin, that's not a good look lol. I really wanted to make it work for the spf enhancement it provides, but I just couldn't and moved onto other things. I do use antioxidants eg pycnogenal, green tea, centella and other vitamins etc, as well as azelaic acid and peptides. I also use a retinoid for collagen boosting. Although ascorbic acid is an excellent ingredient, it's just not something my skin will tolerate. Prior to the rosacea I could use it, but not any longer. I did try it again this year, when my rosacea was fairly calm, but once again it didn't work out. I've completely given up on it now. The irritation etc just isn't worth it for me either. I think those who are really interested in skincare are bombarded with the message we need it in our routine, but we can do without it and still have good skin. Using an alternative is fine and minimising irritation should always be a major goal. The vitamin c derivatives I have tried have never given me visible benefits tbh, whereas other antioxidants have provided soothing and calming to the skin i can actually see. Best wishes.

I must say my Ascorbic Acid serum might definitely cause red patches and I'm still afraid of giving it up.. FOMO. But you might convince me this time to switch. Can't wait to finally receive the MAS serum 😁
