Does your diet include artificial sweeteners? The research presented in this video reveals that non-caloric sweeteners have an impact on insulin levels. Since insulin is your fat-storing hormone, you may want to rethink how often you rely on artificial sweeteners, especially if you are a slow loser.

In this video, you'll learn...
*How artificial sweeteners mixed in coffee affected my blood glucose and ketone readings
*How artificial sweeteners cause insulin resistance and what that means to your ability to burn fat
*My recommendation on using artificial sweeteners

Artificial Sweeteners pictured in the video:
Splenda, Equal, Sweet-n-Low, Erythritol, Stevia, Allulose, Monk Fruit, Xylitol

I started the keto : healthy journey lifestyle 3 years ago, after initial weight loss and health benefits I fell into dirty keto and bad keto habits . I’m 54, insulin resistance, belly fat and struggle to keep fasting glucose below 100 and to achieve ketosis . Sardine fasting on day 4 gets me there, barely .. and then I’m ready to be done, I’m going to start journaling, IF, exercise, being mindful, … I’m going to start with the good habits I learned, ditch the dirty habits, enjoy the journey and keep on keeping on . I didn’t come this far for 1/2 baked results . I am going to capture that hope and zeal I started with 3 years ago and keep building and improving on what works and what doesn’t work.

Thank you Dr. Becky for this informative video. There are so many folks promoting "Fat Bombs" and Alternative Desserts" made with artificial sweeteners but no one reporting the effects on insulin levels. Thanks for being the voice of reason and educating us.

Very helpful. Since watching your series on 2 Fit Docs I have slowly eliminated my 1-2 diet sodas per day and I swear I’m less hungry and have less episodes of hypoglycemia. I’m not a diabetic or on a ketogenic diet but just trying to be a bit healthier. Thank you 🤗

I’ve resisted removing sweeteners...but your videos have twisted my arm and made me cave in. I’m drinking black coffee now. But I do allow cream and Erythritol on Saturday only.
Thanks for your encouragement!

Very helpful! Overcoming a sugar addiction. Low carb high fat diet. Steadfast, pretty clean, and strict for about 14 months now. The last 3 months I gained almost half of the 30 pounds lost. Didn’t change my pretty strict food habit at all! The thing that changed, was serious increase of heavy cream and sugar free syrup In Coffee About 3-4 times a day. (Sugar carving so I was white knuckling it through with that.) Cut down dairy, heavy cream and butter drastically and no weight change! Started searching and found this and some other videos saying the same thing. This has to be what it is. So I need to tearfully let that vice and tool i used go!!

0:47 In that video, most of the sweeteners used included maltodextrin and dextrose as fillers (which have very high glycemic index). Even the "pure stevia" sounded like it included fillers because pure stevia extract is 300 times sweeter than sugar and the "3/8th teaspoon" used would have been equivalent to 112.5 teaspoons of sugar in sweetness. Try these sweeteners in liquid form.

Thank you Becky for this information. I rarely use sugar substitutes but when I do, I use it for baking if I am wanting a sweet and my preferred sweetener is Erythritol. Using it once in a while I think would be okay. In 7 months of being on keto, I have used it 4 times.

It's "safe to ascertain" that we can blame the aspartame.

Gosh I love your videos. I spent 18 months trying to lose weight, doing all the right things, exercise 5 days a week, eating a keto diet BUT only started losing the weight when I gave up the Diet Coke I have been addicted to since I was a teenager (am about to turn 50).

I'm trying to go sugar free but I still love my coffee sweetened. I've recently switched from equal to stevia and lost 3 lbs in about 4 days. Stevia isn't near as sweet as aspartame. 2 packets of equal is almost too sweet. I'm finding that 3 packets of stevia is just right. I use MCT oil in my morning coffee before going to the gym. I work out fasted and eat breakfast at around 12:00 am. I'm now intermittent fasting and just have one large meal a day. Which is breakfast. I will have a double scoop of protein powder with a scoop of cacao in water and some asparagus or other veggies at around 6:30pm. My MBR is suppose to be around 1466 calories and besides working out, at the gym 4 to 5 days a week, I'm just sitting all day. I do get out and ride my bicycle or go walking once in a while though. I've dropped over 10 pounds in the last year and a half. I'm 64 now and was 63 when my aviator picture was taken. If I have to drink my coffee black, I'd have to give up coffee.

I had a feeling the party was coming to an end. Guess it’s cinnamon for the rest of my life then.

I thought that stevia and monk fruit where sugars from natural sources, nor sure why I keep hearing in all the videos that they're artificial.

Dang- I just bought some electrolytes that have Steviol and Sucralose, I didn't want these, but that part of the label was not visible online. These are not specifically mentioned in the video. Any idea if/ to how these affect insulin and leptin levels? Splenda for instance, contains just a tiny percentage of sucralose as a component. Splenda contains only 5% Sucralose plus 95% fillers (Maltodextrin and Dextrin), in order to make it "spoon-for-spoon" and fluffy "like sugar". Maltodextrin and Dextrin can contribute to a spike in blood sugar.

Good information. Real results. I dont use sweeteners at all. Sometimes I do add honey to plain yogurt and that spikes my insulin. Yes, bad me, but honey at least is not fake and has antioxidants and I dont use a ton of it. Always find a happy medium.
