🩺ABOUT DR. BREWER
Dr. Brewer started as an Emergency Doctor. After seeing too many preventable heart attacks, he went to Johns Hopkins to learn Preventive Medicine. While there, he went on the run the post-graduate training program (residency) in Preventive Medicine. From there, he made a career of practicing and managing preventive medicine and primary care clinics. His later role in this area was Chief Medical Officer for Premise, which has close to 1,000 primary care/prevention clinics. He was also the Chief Medical Officer for MDLIVE, the second largest telemedicine company. More recently, he founded PrevMed, a heart attack, and stroke prevention clinic.

At PrevMed, we focus on heart attack, stroke, and cognitive decline. We serve patients who have already experienced an event as well as those who have not developed a diagnosis or event. Dr. Brewer provides services via telemedicine to individuals all over the world. We find a lot of undiagnosed prediabetes or insulin resistance. Treating unrecognized risk factors like prediabetes allows reduction of risk and prevention of disease.

It’s hard to believe that artificial sweeteners such as erythritol would contribute to insulin resistance. When there’s hardly any insulin spike when consuming it.

And then, what is preferable natural sugar or sweeteners? I think is better the sweeteners because are a lot less sugar for example to make a jar of 2 liters of natural lemonade, you need almost 12 spoons of normal sugar, and is the same for cakes, candies, etc. And I believe the better sugar is Stevia and all the Stevia's formulas in the market have natural sugar and minimum percentage of Stevia (I prefer Svetia brand) if you need to choose from two bad's, then is preferable the sweeteners?

The problem with those researches is the lack of intelligence applied on...
I mean, maybe all patients in their study list were pre-diabetic and that's WHY they started to use artificial sweeteners and maybe they never figured that out...
Maybe they used to pour artificial sweeteners over fuits and tarts, or any type of starch filled stuff.
Who knows!??
Scientists use to belive that starch, wheat, are not a problem.

LDL-P question: Does it make sense to have an absolute reference range for LDL-P? I'm thinking that if a person had LDL-C of 200 could have higher LDL-P than someone with LDL-C of 100 and (depending on the numbers of course) actually have a better lipid profile.

Thanks for bringing up this topic. I suspect based on the congested sound of your voice and your pursistant cough you may have Omicron Covid. Everyone in my family has the same symtoms. I'm not a doctor so just an obsrvation from a novice. See your doctor to be sure. ;)
