It’s a lot of work, and it pushes the complexity from checkers to chess level. That’s really hard to get operators to go along with in the fertile corn belt. We have a good 60 years before we’ll have to do it or perish. But tillage improvements and cover crop use has brought many areas outside of the I states up to a level where they are getting 2/3 the production on land that is 1/3 the price. That pencils guys.

I looked at farms in Kansas, Oklahoma, and a few other places, and ended up in Illinois to be within driving distance of one of the airports my airline has a crew base. I didn’t hit the point of being comfortable giving up my off farm job until last year. It’s what bankrolled our growth. Never the less, I’ve always been the strange guy with pee wee cattle and cover crops, who didn’t till. I’m comfortably broke, but according to the IRS, I make a lot of money. My kids and their kids will enjoy the pot of gold I guess. Besides growth expenses, my input costs are almost non existent.

what are your thoughts on swarms of sprayer drones seeding cover crops especially when the ground is wet or should farmers wait until the regulations for the drones get worked out
